Amergis Special Education Teacher 26/27 School Year in Dothan, Alabama
Special Education Teacher (K–6 & Secondary) – 12 Openings
Schedule: 37.5 hours/week
Contract Length: 39 Weeks
Start Date: July 27, 2026
We are hiring 12 Special Education Teachers for the upcoming school year, with several long-standing vacancies across K–6 resource classrooms and select collaborative/co-teaching settings. Teachers will provide specialized instruction, case management, and support for students in grades K–12 while working closely with general education staff and the Special Education Program Administrator.
About the Role
Resource classroom (pull-out); occasional collaborative classrooms
Case management (est. max of 20 students, often fewer)
Participate in IEP development, planning, and progress monitoring
Collaborate with general education teachers and support teams
Use Powerschool Special Programs for documentation
High-needs district with strong preference for certified, experienced SPED teachers
Minimum Requirements
Alabama Collaborative Certification (K–6 or 6–12)
Pre-K roles require Pre-K Certification
Bachelor’s Degree (preferred)
Minimum one year of teaching experience (preferred)
Familiarity with AL State Code (strongly preferred)
CPR, TB/PPD, and health requirements if applicable
Must meet federal, state, and local standards
Must be at least 18 years old
