Job Title:Industrial Electrician - Electrical PLC Tech

Department:Maintenance

Reporting to: Maintenance Supervisor

Position: Full Time / Hourly

Location:Dothan, AL

Salary:$25-$35/hour

Description:

The Industrial Electrician installs new equipment, conduit, wiring and connection boxes per standard. Determines the parts required for proper installation and obtains them. Electricians will perform troubleshooting and repair of equipment with voltage ratings up to and including 600 volts. Performs general troubleshooting of lighting circuits. Replaces motion sensors, photo eyes and switches. Will clearly communicates with coworkers.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Follow all health and safety regulations including wearing appropriate protective equipment.
• Performs highly skilled electrical maintenance tasks including equipment installation.
• Repair and PM electrical machinery; this may include, but not limited to, such equipment as AC/DC motors, drives, pneumatic, hydraulic, conveyors and instrumentation and PLC controls.
• In downtime situations, must be able to analyze the cause of breakdown with equipment.
• Must also determine and complete maintenance repairs required to return the equipment to effective operating condition.
• Follow and adhere to safety lockout procedures and strictly adhere to plant safety rules.
• Must be able to work independently, as well as in a group.
• Maintains a clean and organized work area.
• Maintain a healthy and safe environment.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Experience:

• High school diploma or GED
• Stable employment history with a minimum of three (3) years of experience in Industrial Maintenance work AND/OR equivalent education to include vocational/technical school certificate/diploma.
• Willing and able to work overtime, weekends, on-call and rotating shifts and holidays.
• Proficient in use of hand and power tools
• Experience with reading electrical drawings and schematics.
• Troubleshooting experience, including the use of necessary test instruments such as digital multi-meter, oscilloscope, megger, etc.
• Experience using a computer for record keeping and documentation.
• Able to work in extreme heat/cold, navigate catwalks and ladders.
• Physical ability to perform the essential physical functions of the position, which includes climbing stairs, lifting up to 50 pounds, stooping and bending.
• Ability to communicate effectively and constructively.
• Comprehension of complex work instructions and documentation
• Ability to work with mathematical concepts in an industrial environment.
• Team oriented.
• Willing and able to learn new jobs and skills.
• A personal and total commitment to observe all safety rules and regulations including NEC and NFPA70E (including LOTO and Arc Flash)
• Knowledge of DC motors and motor controls
• Knowledge of AC motors and motor controls
• Knowledge of DC, VFD, and servo drives
• Knowledge of single phase and 3-phase power distribution systems
• Knowledge of various process instrumentation, including pressure, flow, temperature, level, weight, etc.
• Knowledge of PLC controls, HMI operator interfaces, and control systems networking
• Working knowledge of basic industrial maintenance issues
• Able to read and write in English.
• Able to follow written instructions.
• Able to clearly communicate with coworkers and Team Leader
• Interpersonal skills to build relationships and interact with co-workers.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

• Knowledge of fire alarm and protection systems
• Experienced in pneumatic, hydraulic, and conveyor systems.
• Excellent skills in root cause analysis
• Previous experience in Rockwell Software RSLogix5000 and FactoryTalk View Studio (Ed tor, Me, and SE), AB PowerFlex VFDs and Kinetics Servos, and Ethernet IP networks using AP Stratix switches, Yaskawa AC drives and servo drives, and Lense motion control drives.

To be successful in this position, the duties and responsibilities must be performed on-site, remote work is not available.
