Job Title: CAD Draftsman -- Civil Engineering & Land Surveying

Location: Donegal, Pennsylvania Job Type: Full-Time

Job Summary: We are seeking a detail-oriented CAD Draftsman to support our civil engineering and land surveying teams by preparing accurate technical drawings, maps, and plans. The CAD Draftsman will convert field survey data, engineering sketches, and design concepts into precise digital drawings using CAD software. This role requires strong technical drafting skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate with engineers, surveyors, and project managers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare 2D and/or 3D CAD drawings for civil engineering and land surveying projects.
  • Draft topographic surveys, boundary surveys, subdivision plats, site plans, grading plans, and utility layouts.
  • Convert field notes, survey data, and sketches into detailed digital drawings.
  • Import and manage survey data from GPS, total stations, and data collectors.
  • Maintain drawing standards, layers, and templates consistent with company and industry requirements.
  • Revise drawings based on engineer and surveyor red lines and markups.
  • Prepare as-built drawings and record plans.
  • Assist with plotting, document organization, and project file management.
  • Coordinate with engineers, surveyors, and project managers to ensure drawing accuracy and completeness.
  • Ensure deliverables meet client, regulatory, and municipal submission requirements.

     

Required Qualifications

  • Associate degree or technical certificate in CAD Drafting, Civil Engineering Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 2+ years of CAD drafting experience in civil engineering or land surveying preferred.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD or AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Understanding of surveying principles, coordinate systems, and mapping standards.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to produce accurate technical drawings.
  • Ability to interpret survey data, engineering sketches, and construction plans.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D survey tools.
  • Knowledge of topographic mapping, grading design, and utility layouts.
  • Familiarity with state or local land surveying standards and subdivision regulations.
  • Experience working with point clouds, GIS data, or drone survey data.
  • Experience preparing plats, ALTA surveys, and construction documents.
