Job Summary

SHI has an exciting opportunity available for a Sr. Logistics Controller based in Barnsley, South Yorkshire. This is a unique opportunity for the suitable candidate to be involved in the set up and implementation of logistics and export processes out of our Barnsley (UK) and Tiel (NL) facility. This role will primarily focus on the shipments of IT products as well as fully built and configured server racks to the UK, EEA and other areas as the business requires.

The Sr. Logistics Controller will be responsible for leading all international logistics requests and ensuring communication with stakeholders is proactively managed.

This role will collaborate with the wider business and work as part of the global export team. You will be responsible for the management of the Logistics Coordinator and ensure that all SLA’s are adhered to whilst maintaining a proactive approach to communications and ensuring updates are provided in a timely fashion ensuring a high level of both internal and client satisfaction is achieved.

This position is a hands-on role, and the suitable candidate is expected to lead by example and work alongside various UK and US based teams.

This role will have a dual reporting line to the International Logistics director (US Based) and the International ICS solutions director (UK Based).

This role will be based full-time out of the Barnsley integration centre located in Dodworth.

Responsibilities

Include but not limited to:

  • Manage the day-to-day activities of the current logistics coordinator.

  • Perform regular 121 meetings with the current logistics coordinator.

  • Ensure that quotes are received in a timely fashion to ensure maximum internal and client satisfaction.

  • Ensure that communication between the logistics department and the wider business is kept to a high standard.

  • Ensure that regular and accurate updates on quote and shipment progress are provided to the wider business on a regular basis.

  • Obtaining cost-effective domestic shipping quotes.

  • Arranging shipments out of the UK and Tiel facility.

  • Export of IT-related equipment from the U.K. to EEA regions

  • Export of IT-related equipment from Tiel facility to EEA regions.

  • Export of IT-related equipment outside of EEA regions.

  • Import of IT-related equipment from the EU and beyond

  • Keep abreast of rules and regulations regarding:

  • regional trade regulations,

  • development and implementation of business processes,

  • tariff interpretation and classification,

  • clearance and brokerage,

  • import and export compliance.

  • Ensure management and employees follow the trade-related regulations of relevant agencies, and that company trade-related policies and procedures are being followed; monitor trade processes, audit, report, and implement corrective action.

  • Proactively monitor and communicate significant changes in customs legislation, international trade operations, new trade agreements, and other programs that may impact the business. Advise the business on operational changes required to respond to such changes with minimum impact.

  • Represent and respond to inquiries from Customs and other government agencies.

  • Lead the development and implementation of the company’s procedures relating to import / export control and assist in establishing consistent standards for ensuring the proper tariff and export control classification and valuation methodologies for company import / export transactions.

  • Own and manage relationships with company designated freight forwarders and customs brokers.

  • Providing advice for classification of products

  • Oversee International and Domestic Logistics process and procedures and intervene as necessary.

  • Assist with and field calls for distressed imports.

  • Be the main liaison between sales and the warehouse regarding shipment coordination

  • Identify and attend any required export training.

  • Other logistical functions as deemed necessary by the Logistics Director or site Director as appropriate.

Qualifications

  • Logistics experience in the I.T. industry is essential for this role.

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in logistics coordination

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience working with sales / sales support functions.

  • Minimum 3 years of experience exporting I.T. equipment into EEA countries from the UK.

Required Skills

  • Extensive knowledge of applicable trade regulations (US, UK, EU).

  • Experience in dealing with Customs Regulations in multiple countries within the EU,

  • A sound understanding of UK, EU and US requirements and customs systems for import / export compliance and procedures.

  • Ability to prioritise and work effectively under time/workload pressure.

  • Ability to advise supporting departments quickly and efficiently.

The estimated annual pay range for this position is £47,000 - £55,000 which includes a base salary and bonus. The compensation for this position is dependent on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and market location and, therefore, will vary from individual to individual.
