Summary
The Wastewater Manager coordinates the day-to-day requirements necessary to ensure compliance for all local, state, and federal environmental laws. The Wastewater Manager performs environmental testing, record keeping, and reporting as required. The person in this role provides technical support on environmental issues to facility and operations managers/supervisors. The Wastewater Manager will also provide technical and operational support necessary for compliance with applicable permits and regulations.
Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Coordinate the day-to-day operations of the on-site wastewater treatment facility
Supervise a team of wastewater operators that cover the 24-hour operation of the wastewater facility
Adhere to all safety rules including PPE, preventing and reporting unsafe acts and conditions, Lockout-Tagout procedures and Process Safety Management related matters on the job training will be provided
Upon successful completion of training, the Waste Water Supervisor will have the ability to do the following:
Ensure day to day production activities are conducted in accordance with the environmental requirements established by permits and local, state, and federal laws and regulations
Conduct environmental compliance testing
Conduct environmental audits to ensure compliance with all permit requirements, laws, and regulations
Maintain environmental records to ensure compliance with permit requirements, laws, and regulations
Assist in developing environmental reports required by local, state, and federal laws, and regulations
Assist facility and operational managers to ensure waste disposal and spill responses are in compliance with local, state, and federal laws and regulations
Assist facility in operation of powered equipment needed for housekeeping and storm water compliance
Must be able to work both day and swing shifts
Minimum Education
Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science or Biological Sciences or related field
Relevant experience will be considered in lieu of degree.
Experience Requirements
5+ years of experience in wastewater or related technical fields
Understanding of local, state, and federal environmental laws and regulations
Understanding of standard software applications
Strong communication, math, organizational, and analytical skills
Experience Preferred
- Wastewater Pre-Treatment in Poultry Processing preferred
Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements
Move freely throughout facilities
Climb ladder to vertical heights up to 150 feet
Carry tools and equipment up to 50 pounds
Able to communicate via telephone and use standard office equipment
May be exposed to temperatures of up to 100 degrees Fahrenheit, humidity up to 100%
May be exposed to noise up to 100 db.
May be exposed to wastewater treatment chemicals (SDS available)
Must wear and use protective equipment for the job as directed by the Company
