Title:First Tech Challenge Robotics, Head Coach
REPORTS TO: Activities Director/Principal
Position Purpose:To help each participating student achieve a high level of skill in the subject matter content, an appreciate for the values of discipline and an increased level of self-esteem.
Performance Responsibilities:
Supervise scheduled team meetings and additional meetings that may be required.
Plan travel arrangements for competition events.
Order materials according to district purchasing procedures.
Maintain a safe and clean working environment, and keep the students focused on maintaining safety.
Communicate pertinent information to students, parents, mentors, and sponsors.
Instruct and support team members in the design, construction, and programming of robots for competition.
Collaborate with team members to develop and refine strategies for competitions, emphasizing critical thinking and creativity.
Ensure that all activities are conducted in accordance with safety guidelines and the rules and regulations of the FIRST Tech Challenge.
Maintain accurate records of team activities, including robot designs, practice sessions, and competition results.
Qualifications:
High School diploma required
Robotics experience and specific technical experience not required. However, the coach should be interested in building some knowledge of robotics over time.
Start Date: October-May evenings and/or weekends
FLSA Status: Non-exempt
