PRINCIPAL OBJECTIVE OF THE POSITION:
The main purpose of this role is to oversee the design, execution, and maintenance of the calibration program and ensure alignment with company policy and relevant regulatory standards. The role also ensures that all operations are conducted with safety as the highest priority.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESONSIBILITIES:
Establishes specific expectations and objectives to ensure compliance with EHS guidelines, cGMP regulations, Company policies and other external agency regulations. Supports the development of related procedures and programs, implement and monitor performance. Identifies areas of opportunity and prepare specific action plans to increase awareness and to maintain compliance.
Keeps oversight of all operations to be executed in a safely manner.
Directs the use of Integrated Systems including Preventive and On-Demand Calibration Work Order Programs.
Manages the Metrology team with responsibility over all Calibration Data Sheets and Metrology Job Plans Master Data within the system.
Manages the use and application of all Metrology Tools.
Develops and maintains Calibration Interval management program including minimally invasive instrumentation tasks which support Calibration interval extension.
Develops and/or approves SOPs and other technical documentation required for Metrology.
Ensures routine calibration and instrumentation activities are performed in accordance with established guidelines and
operating procedures.
Defines and ensures end user training on Metrology Data Sheets and Work Order processing within the related business system.
Works with the Spare Parts group to ensure proper materials and parts are identified and available to sustain
Calibrations and Corrective activities.
Ensures the proper execution and compliance of Metrology work orders.
Manages the creation, tracking and completion of Metrology related Quality Events within the appropriate tracking system.
Provides support to other departments in the investigations and resolutions of Metrology related Quality Events.
Conducts basic risk mitigations options and advanced troubleshooting to identify root cause and appropriate corrective actions for equipment system problems. Judges the technical complexity of the task/project and aligns materials, parts, tools and skill sets to accomplish the task/project, prioritizing the use of resources to achieve business results.
Develops and maintains current the training program for the department and ensures field personnel are current in their training; maintains status of the training curricula of direct reports.
Allocates resources within the organization, leveraging expertise, to ensure proper support to all business areas. Establish, manage, and monitor and control Metrology Services work processes.
Identifies, implements, and monitors Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and establish goals to accomplish World-Class Metrology performance.
Participates and Leads Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) exercises in conjunction with System Owners, Metrology Technicians and Manufacturing Operators.
Works with Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) programs to improve the performance and reliability of our systems and equipment. Uses data from Maintenance and Metrology Programs to identify opportunities for optimization, assesses the impact on policies and regulations, allocates Capital or expenses as needed, develops and executes action plans.
Manages departmental budget by allocating expenses based on site strategies and business unit's priorities, while assuring compliance with SOX requirements and guarding against budget over runs items such as supplies, Tools Inventory, overtime, and contracts.
Develops the Departmental Budget using Department metrics to establish the right labors, materials and required Outside Service contracts.
Processes NOE's, NTR's, QE's, CAPA's and Audit responses according to established due dates.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL:
Demonstrated aptitude for engineering principles and building and/or manufacturing automation systems.
Knowledge of Maximo or other CMMS applications required.
Managing personnel issues and planning and administering financial resources.
Computer literate in Maximo or similar computer-based calibration program highly desirable Familiarity with basic relay ladder logic, programmable logic controllers, and distributed control system is desired.
Experience with DeviceNet and Foundation Field bus instrumentation highly desirable.
Experience with Rosemounts A.M.S. Software desirable.
Experience in both calibration and maintenance of instrumentation on biotech manufacturing equipment bioreactors, chromatography skis, centrifuge skids, ultra-filtration skids, CIP skids, WFI stills, Clean Steam Generators, Autoclaves, Freezers, Refrigerators, Incubators, etc.
Experience in working in an environment governed by SOPs and cGMPs and the know-how to work and manage within a regulatory oversight.
Adaptable to a fast paced, complex, and ever-changing business environment.
QUALIFICATIONS :
BS Preferred; A minimum of 12 ears of experience required in Metrology operations or engineering supporting a Biologic Process Manufacturing an/or Manufacturing equipment.
Previous managerial experience which demonstrates proficiency in selection, motivating and retaining a high performing team, effectively managing personnel issues, and planning and administering financial resources

Compensation Overview:
Devens - MA - US: $134,550 - $163,039
The starting compensation range(s) for this role are listed above for a full-time employee (FTE) basis. Additional incentive cash and stock opportunities (based on eligibility) may be available. The starting pay rate takes into account characteristics of the job, such as required skills, where the job is performed, the employee's work schedule, job-related knowledge, and experience. Final, individual compensation will be decided based on demonstrated experience.
