Job Title: Heavy Equipment Operator Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team in transporting salt and other materials within the mine. This role requires the ability to load, haul, and unload materials efficiently while adhering to all safety regulations and operational procedures.
Responsibilities
Move materials using heavy equipment underground.
Transport salt from one end of the mine to the other using heavy equipment.
Inspect finished products to ensure they meet required specifications.
Assist the maintenance department with preventive maintenance on equipment when needed.
Operate a forklift and other heavy equipment to move salt throughout the mine.
Complete assigned paperwork accurately for specific customers and orders.
Perform daily housekeeping tasks.
Essential Skills
Experience with Heavy Equipment Operating, including excavators, dump trucks, and haul trucks.
Safety-conscious mindset with a 'see something, say something' attitude.
Ability to work comfortably underground for the majority of the shift.
Capability to lift 50+ lbs repetitively during a 10-hour shift.
Proficiency in operating a forklift.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Long-term Heavy Equipment Operating experience within a mine setting is preferred.
Certification in heavy equipment operation is advantageous.
Comfortable working above ground in all weather conditions.
Must wear steel-toed boots/shoes.

Work Environment
This position is located 1100 feet below ground in a salt mine, which has a spacious, warehouse-like feel and is not cramped or cave-like. The environment can vary in temperature as it is both outside and underground, requiring the ability to work in hot and cold conditions. The workweek consists of a minimum of 50 hours, with occasional Saturday work required. The 1st shift operates Monday through Friday from 6:00 AM to 4:00 PM, and the 3rd shift operates Sunday through Thursday from 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM.

The pay range for this position is $46384.00 - $47632.00/yr.
