Actalent Manufacturing Engineering Supervisor in Detroit, Michigan

Job Title: Manufacturing Engineering SupervisorJob Description

The Manufacturing Engineering Supervisor is responsible for the upkeep and continuous improvement of all assembly production equipment. This role provides technical leadership while driving process improvements in collaboration with Industrial Engineers, Controls Engineers, Operators, and Management. The Supervisor mentors and leads Manufacturing Engineers and Interns, oversees complex and high‑risk projects, and serves as a strong technical problem solver and leader within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of 8–10 Manufacturing Engineers in a hands‑on technical capacity.

  • Perform staff evaluations, coverage planning, time reporting, and KPI reporting.

  • Support machine breakdowns and drive manufacturing process improvements.

  • Develop and upgrade Poka‑Yokes to ensure successful manufacturing processes.

  • Ensure engineers are fully integrated into overall production support teams.

  • Provide technical feedback on new product launch programs.

  • Delegate, track, and ensure on‑time completion of engineering tasks.

  • Assist with machine and process troubleshooting as needed.

  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams and OEMs to ensure quality design standards.

  • Work directly with external suppliers and component providers.

  • Troubleshoot electrical testers and torque controllers as required.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field OR Associate’s Degree with 8+ years of Manufacturing Engineering experience.

  • Proven supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.

  • Strong leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

  • Experience with assembly equipment and debugging industrial machinery.

  • Mandatory vision/camera systems experience.

  • Knowledge of manufacturing safety regulations and procedures.

  • Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Manufacturing engineering leadership in an assembly environment.

  • Industrial machine debugging.

  • Electrical tester troubleshooting (connectivity, CAN/LIN).

  • Torque controller systems (Stanley, Atlas Copco, or similar).

  • Poka-Yoke development and implementation.

  • Strong technical problem-solving and analytical skills.

  • Cross-functional collaboration and supplier interaction.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to lead, motivate, and develop engineering teams.

  • Effective collaboration within cross-functional teams.

  • High ethical standards and professional integrity.

Work Environment

Assembly and manufacturing production environment. Fast-paced, high-accountability setting with frequent interaction with engineering, operations, OEM partners, and suppliers. Involves hands-on technical involvement with production equipment and processes.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Detroit, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $110000.00 - $130000.00/yr.
