JOB SUMMARY
The Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor responsible for hoists, shafts and surface assets reporting to Michael Chappus. Provide technical knowledge, operations experience and management skills at a first line supervisory level in the daily direction and efficient performance of maintenance related activities/functions daily in the attainment of short- and long-term facility goals. The Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor will work with their team members daily through a hands-on approach and must poses strong technical skills, effective communication, and coaching skills. This role will be required to support multiple shifts and operational areas and will need to be flexible to meet various shifts and operational needs.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILTIES
- Organize, plan, and lead maintenance activities relating to mechanical maintenance. Manage equipment repair and PM's. Establish priorities, direct field and shop repairs and equipment.
- Assists in major repairs and technical projects.
- Requisitions and keeps supply of spare parts.
- Ensure that all maintenance work is done in a safe manner in accordance with DSC safety policies, practices, and procedures.
- Train employees on established safety and maintenance rules and regulations.
- Conducts safety meetings with subordinates on a regular basis.
- Maintains a high degree of housekeeping.
- Coach and mentor in-house mechanical team members.
- Evaluate employee work performance and assist maintenance superintendent with corrective action when needed.
- Safety implementation of effective safety programs and all EHS and MSHA policy and procedures.
- Positive two-way communication, fair and consistent administration of the company policy and procedures.
- Compliance with all division/facility policies and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
- High school/equivalency or greater required.
- Bachelor's degree in a mechanical discipline preferred.
- 3+ years maintenance with surface and underground mining equipment and mill components including conveyors, crushers, screens, and storage bins.
- 2+ years of maintenance supervisor experience in an industrial environment.
- Experience reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, layouts, or other specifications.
- The ability to utilize diagnostic techniques and equipment to effectively troubleshoot and solve electrical problems.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT
- Must be able to wear required PPE (steel-toed shoes, safety glasses, hard hat, safety harness and electrical safety equipment).
- Must be able to work safely in varying temperatures in production/warehouse workplace and outside year-round.
- Must be capable of lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling loads up to 50+ lbs. Must be able to climb, crawl, stoop, bend, squat, and reach as required to work on equipment.
