Job Title: Environmental Scientist/Project Manager

Job Description

We are seeking a seasoned Senior Environmental Scientist/Project Manager to join our team based out of the Brighton office, with the flexibility of a hybrid work model. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced environmental professional who thrives on managing complex projects and possesses a strong working knowledge of Michigan’s regulatory framework, particularly Part 213 and Part 201 reporting requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Lead environmental investigation and remediation projects from planning through execution.

  • Prepare and review Initial Assessment Reports (IARs), Final Assessment Reports (FARs), Closure Reports, and other deliverables required under Parts 213 and 201.

  • Support environmental due diligence activities, including Phase I/II Environmental Site Assessments, Baseline Environmental Assessments (BEAs), and Due Care documentation.

  • Coordinate field activities and manage subcontractors to ensure compliance with applicable regulations.

  • Oversee and support the removal of Underground Storage Tanks.

  • Provide construction oversight on environmental remediation projects and operations and maintenance of environmental remediation systems.

  • Assist in data interpretation and preparation of site work plans, spreadsheets, figures, and technical reports.

  • Mentor and train Field and Staff Scientists in conducting field work.

  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations.

Essential Skills

  • A self-starter with excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to effectively communicate with key stakeholders including regulators, project managers, and engineers.

  • Strong understanding of environmental due diligence principles.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Excellent analytical problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple project assignments while meeting strict deadlines.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • B.S. degree in geology, engineering, or sciences.

  • 5 to 10 years of environmental-related consulting experience.

  • Industrial Stormwater Operator certification.

  • Asbestos Inspector certification.

  • OSHA 40-hr HAZWOPER certification.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Valid Michigan Driver’s License.

Work Environment

This position involves working 40-45 hours per week in a very casual work environment, with 75% of the time spent in the office and 25% in the field. There is a preference for in-office work, but a 1-2 day hybrid schedule is possible. The job requires travel to job sites and occasional overnight stays out of the local area. The company offers flexible work hours and a casual office setting, with standard start times between 7am-8:30am.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Detroit, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $45.00/hr.
