Technical Systems Operations Lead

The position of Technical Systems within our Molecular Diagnostics Business Unit located in Des Plaines, Illinois. This position is responsible for supporting all operational areas within our Operations team’s technical-systems environment. This role reports directly to the Technical Systems Manager and serves as the lead across refurbishment operations, refresh programs, and spare‑part component refurbishment workflows.
This position requires someone who can pivot quickly, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and maintain clear, accurate, and timely updates across all workstreams. The ideal candidate must be able to understand complex technical and procedural workflows and translate that knowledge into strong operational execution. A high level of attention to detail is essential, as this role supports the creation, review, and maintenance of accurate documentation across all operational areas.
What You’ll Work On
Review documentation for clarity, consistency, accuracy, and compliance
Translate complex processes into straightforward, easy to follow content
Support creation of new processes, SOPs, and workflow documentation
Monitor program performance and track lifecycle progress
Maintain up to date dashboards, trackers, and communication logs
Work with teams to identify and implement workflow improvements
Ensure tasks have timely updates and status visibility
Generate and manage tickets, TSB lists, tracking sheets, and other operational documents
Attend recurring meetings and provide technical and procedural support
Identify eligibility for refresh/refurbishment based on technical rules and inventory status
Provide hands on operational support when the situation demands
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree plus 2+ years of related work experience with a good understanding of specified functional area, or Master's degree with 0-2 years of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Working technical knowledge and application of concepts, practices and procedures.
General understanding of business unit/group function.
Will perform this job in a quality system environment. Failure to adequately perform tasks can result in noncompliance with governmental regulations
Works on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of identifiable factors.
Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.
Has a broad knowledge of technical alternatives and an understanding of their impact on the systems environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in electrical, Mechanical, Biomedical or similar engineering function
Experience in regulated industry.
