Principal Financial Group Product Manager I in Des Moines, Iowa
What You'll Do
We are looking for a Product Manager to join our Individual Solutions team within Retirement and Income Solutions. You'll partner with our product teams, engineering, project and marketing partners while demonstrating curiosity, open-mindedness, and motivation to continue gaining exposure and experience in all phases of the product lifecycle.

You'll have the opportunity to:
Define and manage product strategy for low to medium complexity products
Understand and define key business outcomes and requirements for your product(s)
Bring data and insights to the table for product teams and partners to understand and consume (in collaboration with design/experience experts)
Remove impediments the team may face in the pursuit of value creation while collaborating with technology and non-technology partners
Ensure the product team has the customer, user, and stakeholder context required to solve problems effectively and efficiently
Collaborate with marketing, business, compliance and project management to accurately represent the product
Drive growth through campaign initiatives and suggest improvements to provide greater participant/customer lifetime value
Communicate product releases to stakeholders & partners
Find opportunities to improve the product management practice and take action to continuously improve

Who You Are
2+ years of business, technology, or product management experience; or equivalent demonstrated through the following: work experience, military experience, or education
1+ years’ experience working in a highly collaborative, fast-paced environment with engineering teams and partners
Possesses strong communication skills including the ability to influence and negotiate with collaborators at all levels
Knowledge of the company and the industry and comprehensive knowledge of technology and its role in solving business problems
Possesses understanding of the techniques and methods of modern product discovery and product delivery
Strong critical thinking/vision, collaboration and decision-making skills along with business savviness and relationship management abilities
Proven experience collaborating, influencing, and negotiating in a professional team environment, including demonstrating varied perspectives and data to inform actions
Demonstrated ability to successfully manage multiple workloads and/or competing priorities
Skills That Will Help You Stand Out
Retirement product and/or retirement industry experience
Understanding of the needs of individuals, retirement market dynamics and operations, competition, and trends impacting both the retirement recordkeeping industry and the retail advisory world
Salary Range Information
Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.
Salary Range (Non-Exempt expressed as hourly; Exempt expressed as yearly)
$84600 - $152400 / year
Salary Details
The following locations are examples of market-specific salary ranges across different geographies.
Wichita, KS: $84,600 - $114,300 / year
Des Moines, IA: $89,300 - $120,650/ year
Charlotte, NC: $94,000 - $127,000 / year
Chicago/Minneapolis: $103,400 - $139,700/ year
Los Angeles/New York City: $112,800 - $152,400/ year
Time Off Program
Flexible Time Off (FTO) is provided to salaried (exempt) employees and provides the opportunity to take time away from the office with pay for vacation, personal or short-term illness. Employees don’t accrue a bank of time off under FTO and there is no set number of days provided.

Work Environments
This role offers in-office, hybrid (blending at least three office days in a typical workweek), and remote work arrangements (only if residing more than 30 miles from Des Moines, IA, Raleigh, NC, or Charlotte, NC). You’ll work with your leader to figure out which option may align best based on several factors.
