Baylor Scott & White Health ERP Finance Application Analyst in Des Moines, Iowa

Description Overview:

This role will serve as a key liaison between Finance, Operations, and IT. This person will be responsible for supporting financial applications, financial reporting, and analytics. This role will have strong knowledge of ERP systems and ancillary financial applications. The position combines business analysis, financial systems expertise, and application support, ensuring solutions are aligned with GAAP standards and organizational objectives. These areas include but are not limited to supporting the following: ERP applications, ancillary applications, and custom applications. This includes both cloud-based and on-premises applications. Administers and maintains policies and procedures for ensuring the security and integrity of the financial application systems, department reports and custom solutions. Performs special projects, identifying and solving reporting/integration requirements, supporting users and other duties assigned.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

Business Partnership & Analysis

  • Serve as a trusted partner to Finance and Operational stakeholders, developing a deep understanding of financial processes, reporting needs, and strategic priorities.

  • Lead and participate in requirements gathering, stakeholder discussions, and process reviews to define business needs, KPIs, and reporting requirements.

  • Apply knowledge of financial processes and/or GAAP principles to ensure alignment with accounting standards.

  • Translate business requirements into functional specifications and reporting logic aligned with financial data structures.

  • Act as a liaison between technical teams and finance stakeholders, simplifying complex system concepts into clear business terms.

Reporting, Analytics & Insight

  • Design, develop, and deliver financial reports, dashboards, and analytics solutions that provide actionable insights for leadership.

  • Analyze financial workflows across systems to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and completeness.

  • Write and optimize queries to support reporting and analytics across multiple financial systems and data platforms.

  • Participate in the design, testing, and ongoing maintenance of financial and operational reporting solutions.

Systems & Application Support

  • Support and enhance financial applications, including ERP systems and ancillary tools (e.g., Workday, Oracle, Infor Lawson, OnBase,

  • Financial Edge, Blackline) across cloud and on-premises environments.

  • Configure, extend, and maintain ERP functionality using native tools, workflows, APIs, and low-code/no-code platforms.

  • Maintain vendor-provided applications, execute system updates, and troubleshoot and resolve application issues.

  • Provide Tier 2 support by investigating and resolving helpdesk tickets related to financial systems.

Integrations & Data Management

  • Support integrations between ERP platforms, data warehouses, reporting tools, and third-party systems.

  • Support interfaces between ERP systems, ancillary applications, and cloud-based platforms.

  • Ensure system performance, data integrity, and reliability across the financial application ecosystem.

Testing, Training & Continuous Improvement

  • Participating in User Acceptance Testing (UAT) by developing test scenarios, validating outputs, and ensuring solutions meet business expectations.

  • Prepare and deliver training materials, documentation, and user guides for end users and stakeholders.

  • Identify and recommend process improvements, automation opportunities, and contribute to data governance initiatives to enhance data quality and efficiency.

Salary Range

The pay range for this position is $40.35/hour ($83,928/year) for those with entry-level qualifications up to $62.52 ($130,041) for those highly experienced. The specific rate will depend upon the successful candidate's specific qualifications and prior experience.

Preferred Skills/Qualifications:

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience)

  • 3–7+ years of experience in financial systems, business analysis, or finance technology support

  • Experience working in finance-led environments with exposure to accounting processes and reporting.

  • Experience with cloud-based ERP implementations or upgrades

  • Exposure to data governance frameworks and best practices

  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CPA, Workday, Oracle, or other ERP certifications)

Technical & Systems Expertise

  • Hands-on experience with ERP systems such as Workday Financials, Oracle Financials, or Infor Lawson

  • Experience supporting ancillary financial systems (e.g., OnBase, BlackLine, Financial Edge) is preferred.

  • Strong understanding of system integrations, data flows, and APIs across financial platforms

  • Proficiency in writing and optimizing SQL queries for reporting and data analysis.

  • Experience with reporting and analytics tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms)

Financial & Analytical Skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data, with a solid understanding of accounting principles, including GAAP.

  • Ability to evaluate financial workflows and identify opportunities for process improvement and automation.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Communication & Collaboration

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally with finance, IT, and operational teams.

  • Ability to clearly explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

  • Experience developing training materials and delivering end-user training.
