CONTRACT TRANSPORT INC Class A Commercial Drivers License Truck Driver (Class A CDL Truck Driver) in DES MOINES, Iowa
Drives tractor/truck to transport freight to and from specified destinations and assists other positions as designated by Facilities Supervisor. Home daily: all local / regional work. Pays 30% of load with great benefits!
Job Responsibilities:
- Safely drives equipment tractor/truck to job sites
- Maintains commercial driver's license as required by state law and company policy.
- Maintains communication with supervisor to receive location instructions.
- Maintains tractor logs according to state and federal regulations, including DOT.
- Performs emergency roadside repairs such as installing light bulbs, tire chains, changing tires ...
- Appropriately uses blocks, straps, ropes, ets. to secure cargo prior to trasit, especially wheels, brakes, and other moving parts.
- Ensures equipment is fueled and/or serviced prior to parking each day.
- Regularay checks all equipment for proper servicing such as fluid levels, tire pressure, etc.
- Keets tractor/truck clean inside and out.
Qualifications:
- Must have a valid commercial driver's license. Formal training and/or experience preferred.
- Must be able to speak, read and write english and have mathematical skills, all with sufficient proficiency to understand instructions, complete required paperwork, and communicate clearly and respectfully with supervisors, staff, and dock workers/site personell.
- Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, sit, use hand, and talk and listen. The employee is occasonally required to stand, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance or stoop, kneel, crouch.
