As an Import Documentation Specialist with PCB Piezotronics, Inc., you will be responsible for accurate review, validation and processing of all import documentation to ensure timely customs clearance, compliance with trade regulations, and proper accounting of landed costs. This role works closely with customs brokers, freight forwarders, Global Trade Compliance, Purchasing, Warehouse, and Finance across the organization.
Additional Duties:
Promotes teamwork, cooperation and commitment to “Total Customer Satisfaction” among team members.
Review and validate import documentation (commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading/airway bills, certificates of origin, preferential origin documentation, import licenses, phytosanitary/sanitary certificates, etc.).
Verify accuracy of HS/HTS classifications, item descriptions, quantities, values, Incoterms, and country of origin information by working with internal and external stakeholders.
Confirm proper commercial valuation and support (purchase orders, vendor invoices, freight, insurance) for customs filings and process/initiate disputes when necessary.
Coordinate with customs brokers and freight forwarders to ensure timely electronic filings (e.g., ACE/ABI, e-manifest) and resolve discrepancies or holds.
Work with internal parties to develop and maintain calculators and process identifiers to properly assign HS/HTS coding and content valuation for customs import of products subject to additional tariff valuation.
Maintain import documentation records and files per corporate retention policies and regulatory requirements.
Prepare and supply documentation for audits, internal reviews, and customs inquiries.
Support month-end and accrual processes related to landed cost, duties, and brokerage fees; liaise with Finance/AP.
Create and maintain SOPs and checklists for document review and clearance processes with a system mindset mentality and practice.
Identify and drive process improvements to reduce clearance time, errors, and duty exposure.
Provide day-to-day support for import-related queries from internal stakeholders and suppliers.
Perform additional duties as directed to support the PCB Supply Chain and Organization needs.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, International Business, Logistics, or equivalent work experience.
Experience:
2+ years’ experience in import documentation, customs operations or trade compliance (U.S. imports preferred).
Proficiency with MS Excel and experience using ERPs or Global Trade Management systems.
Knowledge of HTS/HS classification, Incoterms, country of origin rules, and basic customs valuation principles.
Travel Requirement: 5-10% upon request
Preferred Qualifications:
Education:
- Certifications such as Certified Customs Specialist (NCBFAA/CCS), Licensed Customs Broker, or similar.
Experience: Experience working with customs brokers, freight forwarders and GSP/preferential origin documentation.
Experience in a multi-division or multinational manufacturing environment.
Familiarity with export controls (EAR/ITAR), ECCN, and denied party screening tools.
