Description
Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our company headquartered in Denver, CO, with operations across seven branch locations. This role will support general accounting functions across multiple branches, assist with month-end close, and ensure accurate financial reporting in accordance with GAAP.
The ideal candidate has strong general ledger experience This position reports directly to the Controller and collaborates with general managers and operational leadership.
Key Responsibilities
General Accounting
Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and account adjustments
Perform bank, credit card, and balance sheet reconciliations
Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes
Perform bank, balance sheet, and general ledger reconciliations
Support intercompany transactions and branch-level allocations
Assist in preparing internal financial reports and supporting schedules
Analyze financial variances and research discrepancies
Maintain fixed asset schedules and depreciation entries
Review Accounts Payable for accuracy after input into SAP.
Other duties as assigned.
Compliance & Audit Support
Assist with annual financial audit preparation
Ensure compliance with internal controls and company policies
Recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy
Prequalification’s for Contractors
Requirements
Qualifications
Required
Associates degree in accounting/business, Finance, or related field
2–5 years of accounting experience
Strong understanding of GAAP
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, v-look up, etc)
Ability to manage multiple branch activities and deadlines
Preferred
Experience in construction or manufacturing
Experience working in a multi-location or multi-entity organization
Experience with ERP/accounting systems (SAP, NetSuite, Oracle, etc)
Experience preparing and filing sales and use tax returns- Avalara
Skills & Competencies
High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
Analytical mindset with problem-solving ability
Strong communication skills – written and verbal.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Comfortable working in a deadline-driven environment
