PNC Software Engineering Group Manager- AI Transformation in Denver, Colorado

As a Software Engineering Group Manager within PNC's Technology organization, you will be based in Pittsburgh, PA, Cleveland, OH, Birmingham, AL, Denver, CO or Dallas, TX.

This is a senior leadership role accountable for defining, governing, and scaling consistent engineering and delivery practices across the enterprise. As the organization accelerates transformation and AI-driven initiatives, this role serves as a strategic pillar for Agile SDLC standards, GenAI adoption, product ownership models, and tooling (e.g., Jira).

This leader ensures alignment across teams, reduces duplication and delivery risk, and embeds sustainable best practices that strengthen execution, leadership behaviors, and cultural outcomes. The role manages a layered organization and leads 2–3 direct reports, with broad influence across engineering, product, and business stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

• Define and own enterprise-wide Ways of Working for software engineering and delivery, ensuring consistent adoption of Agile, SDLC, and product operating models.

• Establish and maintain standards, best practices, and guardrails covering Agile execution, backlog management, team topology, and delivery metrics.

• Act as the executive owner for WoW strategy, resolving ambiguity in ownership and driving clarity across the organization.

• Serve as a pillar leader for SDLC, defining strategy, rules, and regulatory considerations for Agile delivery at scale.

• Ensure alignment between delivery practices and enterprise risk, compliance, and security requirements.

• Partner with engineering, product, and architecture leaders to improve delivery predictability, quality, and speed to value.

• Lead GenAI adoption practices within software engineering, ensuring responsible, secure, and scalable use of AI across the SDLC.

• Define standards for AI-assisted development, testing, documentation, and productivity tooling.

• Collaborate with AI, data, and security leaders to align AI usage with enterprise policies and ethical guidelines.

• Establish and evolve product ownership models, clarifying roles, decision rights, and accountability across large, layered teams.

• Strengthen the partnership between technology and business product leaders to ensure shared outcomes and value delivery.

• Enable clear prioritization, roadmap alignment, and outcome-based planning.

• Own strategy and standards for Jira and related delivery tooling, ensuring consistent configuration, usage, and reporting across teams.

• Reduce fragmentation by standardizing artifacts, workflows, and reporting used to manage and communicate delivery.

• Coach and develop leaders and managers on WoW expectations, execution discipline, and continuous improvement.

• Manage 2–3 direct reports, with accountability for a broader, layered organization.

• Build high-performing teams focused on strategy, standards, enablement, and adoption.

Key Qualifications & Experience:

• Significant experience leading software engineering organizations or enterprise delivery functions at scale.

• Deep expertise in Agile methodologies, SDLC governance, and enterprise delivery models.

• Proven success driving enterprise-wide transformation initiatives involving multiple teams and stakeholders.

• Strong understanding of product ownership models and modern product-centric operating models.

• Experience with Jira and large-scale Agile tooling strategies.

• Demonstrated leadership in change management, influencing senior leaders, and shaping culture.

• Experience defining or governing GenAI or AI adoption practices in software engineering environments.

• Background in regulated or complex enterprise environments with mature risk and compliance needs.

• Experience establishing standards across large, layered, or federated organizations.

Work Experience

Roles at this level typically require a university / college degree. Higher level education such as a Masters degree, PhD, or certifications is desirable. Proven leadership experience with a moderate to large scope of responsibility is required. In lieu of a degree, a comparable combination of education, job specific certification(s), and experience (including military service) may be considered.

Pay Transparency

Base Salary: $100,000.00 – $211,600.00

Salaries may vary based on geographic location, market data and on individual skills, experience, and education. This role is incentive eligible with the payment based upon company, business and/or individual performance.
