The Senior Program Manager
will lead complex, multi-workstream initiatives within Mission Critical Operations (MCO)
environments. This role is responsible for orchestrating the programs that ensure continuous availability, safety, and reliability of physical operations
, where downtime is not an option.
This role requires experience managing many stakeholders, parallel workstreams, and high-risk operational environments
, with accountability for governance, execution, and escalation across engineering, operations, vendors, and leadership teams.
What You'll Do
Program & Workstream Leadership
- Own and drive multiple concurrent workstreams supporting mission-critical operations, ensuring alignment, sequencing, and delivery across technical, operational, and people-centric initiatives
- Establish and maintain program governance, operating rhythms, decision frameworks, and executive-level reporting
- Serve as the central point of coordination across engineering, operations, facilities, vendors, and leadership stakeholders
Physical Infrastructure & Facility Operations
- Lead programs supporting physical infrastructure changes, including:
- Adding and commissioning new equipment (e.g., generators, critical systems)
- Decommissioning legacy infrastructure
- Developing and executing maintenance and testing plans (monthly testing, annual performance testing)
- Designing and facilitating operational drills and failure-scenario exercises
- Ensure all physical workstreams are executed with safety, resiliency, and uptime as top priorities
Operational Incident Management & Response
- Establish and govern incident management protocols for operational events
- Define:
- When and how protocols are activated
- Roles and responsibilities during incidents
- Escalation paths and decision authorities
- Communication chains and stakeholder notifications
- Drive documentation, training, and readiness to ensure teams can respond effectively during high-pressure events
Staffing Models & Operational Readiness
- Design and implement staffing models that support 24/7 operations
- Support onboarding and integration of specialized engineering and operations talent capable of resolving complex issues in real time
- Partner with leadership to ensure coverage, redundancy, and skills alignment across all shifts
Vendor & Partner Management
- Manage vendor relationships supporting mission-critical environments, including:
- Contract oversight
- Performance management
- Issue escalation and resolution
- Act as the escalation point when vendor performance impacts operational stability or risk posture
On-Site & Operational Communications
- Define and operationalize communication models for:
- On-duty personnel
- Shift handoffs
- Incident escalation
- Leadership and stakeholder updates
- Ensure clarity around who communicates, when, and through which channels during normal operations and incidents
Risk Management & Governance
- Identify, assess, and actively manage operational risks across people, process, technology, and physical environments
- Implement risk mitigation plans, c ntrols, and continuous improvement mechanisms
- Ensure programs align with internal governance, compliance, and safety standards
What You'll Bring
- 12+ years of experience in program or operations management, with significant experience leading large, complex, multi-workstream initiatives
- Proven success operating in mission-critical environments where uptime, safety, and reliability are paramount
- Exceptional stakeholder management skills, including experience working with senior leadership and cross-functional teams
- Strong command of program governance, risk management, and escalation management
- Ability to operate calmly and decisively in high-pressure, incident-driven situations
- Consulting experience or comfort operating as an embedded advisor within client organizations
- Data center operations experience strongly preferred
- Experience in other critical physical operations environments, such as:
- Hospitals or healthcare facilities
- Aerospace or defense operations
- Manufacturing or industrial operations
- Utilities, energy, or transportation infrastructure
- Experience managing 24/7 operational models and on-call environments
- Background working with facilities engineering, infrastructure, or reliability teams

Slalom is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. For this position, the hourly pay range is $75 to $80/HR depending on experience. Actual compensation will depend upon an individual's skills, experience, qualifications, location, and other relevant factors. The hourly pay range is subject to change and may be modified at any time.
