Job Description
AECOM is seeking an experienced Senior Instrumentation & Controls Lead to support and grow our Mining practice in Denver, CO . This role will lead the delivery of I&C solutions on complex mining projects while building and mentoring a high-performing engineering team. The ideal candidate brings a strong background in electrical engineering and instrumentation & controls, along with the ability to drive technical excellence, support business development, and serve as a trusted partner to clients.
Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to :
Lead instrumentation & controls (I&C) engineering and design for multi-disciplinary mining projects from concept through construction support.
Serve as I&C discipline lead on mid-size to large projects, ensuring technical quality, schedule, and budget alignment.
Direct and mentor engineers and designers in the development of calculations, specifications, drawings, and deliverables.
Develop and review key I&C design documentation, including P&IDs, control narratives, system architecture, I/O lists, loop diagrams, and cable schedules.
Perform technical oversight and independent reviews of engineering deliverables to ensure compliance with industry standards and project requirements.
Partner with clients to develop solutions, present technical approaches, and serve as a primary technical point of contact.
Support business development efforts, including proposal development, scope definition, and contributing to the growth of the Mining practice.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree + 8 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and / or education.
Valid U.S. Driver’s License
Registration as a Professional Engineer.
Preferred Qualifications
PE in Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, Arizona, or ability to acquire a PE in those states.
On-site field experience in commissioning and start-ups for facilities
10+ years or more of relevant experience
MSHA Miner training
Demonstrated experience in I&C engineering, design, and construction tasks including:
Progressive project experience including task leadership and project management roles on design and design-build projects
Lead designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, I&C specifications, and final working drawings
Work with CAD designers to produce construction-level drawings
Strong written and oral communication, quantitative and people skills
Strong work ethic and professional demeanor
Initiative-taking on assignments
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, and complete multiple technical tasks under tight deadlines
Ability to estimate and define scope for I&C deliverables and tasks on projects
Perform work in accordance with agreed upon scope, budget, and schedule
Track and manage task budgets, schedules and projects.
Author reports and prepare/or direct preparation of detailed calculation packages including proper documentation and references.
Must be resourceful, highly organized, professional with attention to detail and people.

Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The range for this position is $125000 to $170000.
