Job Description
This field-based role oversees asphalt paving operations across the Front Range, managing multiple crews to deliver high-quality paving projects safely, efficiently, and on schedule. It is well suited for an experienced paving foreman ready to grow into a superintendent position, or for a superintendent with 1–2 years of experience leading asphalt crews. You will serve as a hands-on leader in the field, driving daily production, ensuring quality control, and coordinating closely with internal teams to keep projects moving smoothly from start to finish.
Responsibilities
Oversee asphalt paving operations from project start through completion, ensuring work meets specifications and quality standards.
Manage and coordinate up to three asphalt paving crews in the field, providing clear direction and daily leadership.
Plan daily work activities, including production goals, crew assignments, and equipment needs.
Ensure all paving work meets established quality control standards and follows industry best practices.
Coordinate closely with operators, foremen, and production teams to align resources and maintain workflow.
Monitor asphalt placement, compaction, yield, and overall jobsite conditions to optimize performance and quality.
Maintain project schedules and drive production to meet deadlines and customer expectations.
Communicate regularly with project management, dispatch, and other internal teams to report progress and resolve issues.
Enforce safety policies and procedures consistently and lead by example to promote a strong safety culture in the field.
Troubleshoot operational and field challenges quickly to keep projects moving forward.
Act as a hands-on leader with a strong presence on the jobsite, actively engaging with crews and supporting their work.
Essential Skills
Extensive hands-on experience in asphalt paving.
Previous experience as a paving foreman, superintendent, or lead operator in asphalt paving operations.
Solid understanding of asphalt operations and production processes.
Ability to coordinate equipment and crews effectively to meet production and quality goals.
Knowledge of quality control standards and asphalt paving best practices.
Proven ability to oversee and manage multiple crews in the field, preferably with prior multi-crew leadership experience.
Demonstrated ability to manage the job, the people, and the pace of work in a fast-moving field environment.
Strong leadership skills with a hands-on, field-focused management style.
Effective communication skills for working with crews, project management, dispatch, and internal teams.
Commitment to enforcing and modeling safe work practices on every jobsite.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience stepping up from a paving foreman role into broader leadership responsibilities is highly valued.
Experience as a superintendent with 1–2 years of running asphalt crews is beneficial.
Ability to adapt to changing jobsite conditions and project needs while maintaining productivity and quality.
Strong problem-solving skills to address field issues and operational challenges quickly.
High level of reliability, accountability, and ownership of project outcomes.

Work Environment
This is a fully field-based position overseeing asphalt paving projects within approximately a 50-mile radius in the Front Range area, including locations such as Castle Rock, Boulder, Golden, Morrison, Strasburg, and the greater Metro Denver region. Typical start times range between 6:00 AM and 8:00 AM, depending on project requirements. During peak season, generally from May through the late construction season, work may extend up to seven days per week based on project needs, with the expectation of availability and flexibility as schedules fluctuate. Seven-day workweeks are not guaranteed, and there may be downtime between projects. In the off-season, typically from November through the winter months, average weekly hours decrease, and workloads are lighter. The role involves working outdoors in varying weather conditions on active construction sites, with frequent interaction with heavy equipment, paving machinery, and field crews, requiring appropriate field attire and adherence to all safety protocols.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $60000.00 - $90000.00/yr.
