POSITION DESCRIPTION
Position Title : Music Teacher
Department : The Laradon School
Reporting Function : School Director
Supervisory Functions : None
Salary Range : $64,000-$84,000 based off education and years of experience
Job Summary :
To plan and lead school-wide music instruction designed to improve creative skills, motor coordination, and knowledge and use of instruments and materials. Implement evidence-based behavior intervention plans that include p ositive behavior intervention and supports and environmental strategies designed to address known antecedents and promote skill acquisition.
Duties/Responsibilities :
Promote a learning environment in which all students thrive; instruction that is tailored to students’ strengths and needs, and prepares students for their next transition.
Plan and implement differentiated lessons and activities appropriate for individual students’ developmental levels.
Attend classroom and staff meetings.
Assist with data collection for IEP goals. Delegate data collection to paraprofessionals and service providers as needed.
Actively engage parents, guardians, and community partners to promote access to activities.
Complete required documentation and maintain records.
Work collaboratively with other professionals to meet the needs of individual students across learning environments.
Maintain inventory of equipment and materials.
Drive students as necessary for program needs.
Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
As Laradon is a small employer and employees work in a collaborative, team environment, employee must be physically present in school to perform his/her job functions.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Training Requirements:
All trainings deemed mandatory by Laradon
A minimum of 24 hours of approved training annually
Orientation
First Aid/CPR
Safety Care physical management training
20 hours of on-the-job training
Minimum Position Requirements:
Current Colorado Department of Education License in Elementary K-6, Art, and/or Special Education.
Excellent communication skills and flexibility.
Ability to work with diverse student population and staff.
Physical requirements include the ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force; physical condition to enable walking, standing, sitting, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling; stamina to be on feet and active for full workdays.
Preferred Requirements:
One year experience in a licensed position working with students with intellectual or multiple disabilities.
Three years experience with children or adolescents with challenging behavior.
Experience working with linguistically and culturally diverse students.
Valid driving license, good driving record, vehicle insurance.
