Diesel Mechanic – Heavy Equipment (Field & Shop)

Location: Lipan Plant – 50‑mile service radius (Longmont to Sedalia, CO)

Schedule: Monday–Saturday, 7:00 AM–5:00 PM (hours may extend based on asphalt schedule)

Pay Range: $62,400–$79,040 annually + OT (60+ hours potential)

Sign‑On Bonus: $3,000 (paid in three installments)

Position Overview

As a Heavy Equipment Diesel Mechanic , you will perform daily inspections, preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on a wide range of construction equipment. Approximately 80% of work is performed in the field at active job sites using a company‑provided service truck.

You will be responsible for documenting all repairs, ensuring equipment is safe, reliable, and ready to support ongoing operations.

Equipment You Will Service

  • CAT 980 Loaders

  • Pavers

  • Milling Machines

  • Rollers & Scrapers

  • Excavators

  • Compaction Equipment

  • Asphalt Paving Equipment

  • CAT 6090 and similar heavy machinery

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs on diesel engines and heavy construction equipment

  • Conduct daily inspections and preventative maintenance

  • Respond to field service calls within a 50‑mile radius

  • Document all repairs, parts used, and work performed

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment

  • Communicate equipment status and repair needs with supervisors and operators

  • Operate a company‑provided service truck for field repairs

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience as a diesel mechanic working on heavy equipment

  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills

  • Valid driver’s license

  • Clean MVR (no DUI or reckless driving)

  • Ability to work extended hours based on project needs

  • Comfortable working outdoors and in active construction environments
