Position Description:
CLP Engineering (CLPE) CLPE is seeking a talented Design Supervisor (Design Lead) with power systems background and 8+ years' experience to join us. The Design Supervisor will oversee a team of drafters and designers, assigning projects and tasks, and provide quality control review of design work. As a hands-on role, this position also develops, checks and coordinates designs and drawings needed for plant electrical systems per applicable standards and codes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Working with engineering staff, will develop accurate designs complying with recognized drafting standards, company practices, policies and procedures.
- Develop plans, elevations and sections of various electrical systems, inclusive of below ground and above ground designs.
- Prepare and oversee electrical power system drawings including single line diagrams, three-line diagrams, schematics and wiring diagrams.
- Team and project management:Monitor work performed by drafters and designers on project team and ensure high-quality, timely delivery.
- Ensure all project comments and markups are incorporated into the project's design documents.
- Will perform complete design checks to assure applicable codes, standards, design/drafting standards, and technical accuracy are incorporated.
- Create design/construction drawing packages for substation design projects including substation general plan, elevation and detail, bill of material, conduit and cable schedule.
- Attend coordination meetings, communicate with project team and field personnel; create/extract reports as required.
- Create bill of materials (BOMs) for all components associated with the various electrical system designs.
- Perform field verification of existing facilities.
- Familiarity with engineering and construction industry standards.
- Will play a role with interfacing with the customer to provide technical support and integrate designs as needed.
- Exercise independent judgment to develop designs with minimal direction and may concurrently support multiple projects.
- Oversee and update the company design/drafting standards with support of the drafting and design team.

Skills | Knowledge | Experience:
- Associate degree or equivalent in drafting, engineering technology or related field preferred.
- Minimum of eight (8+) years of experience, preferably 10+ yrs with design of electrical systems (distribution systems and/or substation ) required.
- Proficient with AutoCAD, and/or MicroStation, Bluebeam, and MS Office.
- Bentley Substation, AutoDesk Inventor, SDS (Substation Design Suite), Arc-GIS, PLS-CADD, and/or Pole Foreman are preferred, but not required.
- Previous experience as a Team Lead or Design Supervisor is strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Capable of laying out equipment and routing of conduit, cable tray, duct banks, and grounding grids.
- Ability to provide mentorship and guidance to others on project the team.
Supervisory Responsibility:
- Oversee and manage a small team of Drafters and Designers.
Work Authorization | Security Clearance:
- Due to the nature of our work as a Federal Contractor, candidates must be a US Citizen.
- Obtain access to a military installation
- Valid driver's license is required with a record that meets the CLP Fleet Policy.
Work Environment:
- This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
Physical Demands:
- The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
- This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bending or standing on a stool as necessary. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds.
Travel:
- Travel to project sites may be required.

- Salary range: $110,000-$140,000/year based on experience, plus eligible to participate in Short Term Incentive Plan.
