Urban Peak Clinical Group Facilitator in Denver, Colorado

Job Summary 

Under the supervision of the Director of Wellbeing, the Clinical Group Facilitator will be responsible for the coordination, facilitation, and design of clinically focused and evidence-based groups, classes, and activities focused on building resiliency, increasing mental health support, and community among all youth served at Urban Peak. This position also will be responsible for assisting, implementing, and coordinating all groups, classes, and activities designed to address mental health, and to ensure client data collection, as well as file maintenance. This position will ensure that interactions, interventions, and environments at Urban Peak are trauma informed and emphasize the physical and emotional safety of youth. Outcomes for this position include reducing harm to self and others through addressing trauma and mental health; increased ability to demonstrate healthy resilience for coping with challenges and stresses in life; and improving clients' mental health through behavioral group settings. This position focuses on youth engagement and progress through therapeutic groups and activities; this position does not provide one-on-one clinical services. Duties include evidence-based curriculum development for clinical groups, crisis intervention as needed, and referring youth to established mental health care. This position will ensure that interactions, interventions and environments at Urban Peak are trauma informed and emphasize the physical and emotional safety of youth and staff.

*Who You Are: *

  • A master's degree in social work, psychology, or a related field AND minimum of two (2) years of experience working with youth 
  • Must be a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Professional Counselor OR be eligible for licensure within 12 months 
  • Lived experience reflective of the youth we serve encouraged but not required. 
  • Experience in facilitating and creating clinical groups and life skills classes with high-risk youth and/or special populations 
  • Experience, competency, sensitivity, and ability to connect well and work effectively with the homeless youth community 
  • Skill in oral and written communications 
  • Skill in negotiating and mediating, particularly in sensitive situations, as well as some skill in crisis intervention and de-escalation 
  • Able to communicate effectively with a diverse population 
  • Able to make independent judgement and sound decisions using available information while maintaining appropriate confidentiality  
  • Able to work with collaborating agencies when necessary for programming 
  • Able to manage tasks and activities in an environment that sometimes includes conflict and chaos 
  • Must be team-oriented and able to coordinate with various departments and staff 
  • Must be computer proficient and possess experience of Microsoft Office Suite (e.g. Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel).  
  • Able to assist in creating, maintaining and updating treatment and case plans for youth. Ability to use evidence-based assessments to determine youth needs.  
  • Understanding of the provision of and commitment to trauma informed care and positive youth development 
  • Lived experience reflective of the youth we serve encouraged but not required 
  • Must be insurable as a driver on Urban Peak's auto liability policy in order to conduct business on behalf of the agency or transport youth using an Urban Peak vehicle and an approved personal vehicle. 

      

Eligibility Requirements 

  

To be considered for employment with Urban Peak, and in accordance with Colorado State Licensing and regulatory requirements, applicants must be able to: 

 

  1. Provide proof of completed education (high school diploma, GED, or official transcripts). 
  2. Proof of state licensure (LCSW, LSW; LPC) 
  3. Successfully pass federal and state background checks, covering the period from age 1 to present. 
  4. Complete and pass a pre-employment tuberculosis (TB) screening. 
  5. Complete and pass a pre-employment physical examination. 
  6. Provide a clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR), if the position requires driving. 

      

What You Will Do: 

*The job duties of this position are performed personally, in cooperation with your supervisor, and/or in coordination with other staff. Additional work functions and duties may be assigned. * 

Clinical Duties 

  • *Provide clinically focused and evidence-based programming that supports positive mental health outcomes *
  • *Facilitate therapeutic groups within the realm of individual training and expertise  *
  • *Provide crisis intervention and presence in milieus and other programs, as necessary, to support relationships with youth *
  • Work closely with other staff and agency programs to coordinate activities, providing clear and effective communication with other staff regarding clients  
  • Work directly with youth, as needed, to support their mental health goals and assist them in increasing overall well-being 
  • Provide clinical groups in a low barrier setting with harm reduction principles by providing services and programming to meet clients where they are at

General Job Duties 

  • *Actively represents Urban Peak in the community to people interested in the issue of homelessness for education and funding.  *
  • *Attend all required staff meetings and training and 1:1 supervision *
  • *Accompanies youth on planned therapeutic group outings or coordinates with community partners *
  • *Educates and trains volunteers and interns in all aspects of working with youth who are experiencing homelessness or at high risk of homelessness, when applicable *
  • *Actively engage and recruit youth in all Urban Peak programs *
  • *Accountable to defined outcomes, both individually and team level, by supporting data collection through Urban Peak's database *
  • Works with Assistant Director of Clinical Services and clinical team on meeting deliverables for grants, as applicable
