Position Summary
The Advancement Services team is a key support component to the success of the broader Advancement unit. The Advancement Services team works closely with Advancement Operations, development officers and other Advancement team members, partners in the Controller's office, Internal Audit, external auditors, and other University units to manage donations to the University of Denver, ensure entry and quality, and maintain the database used to solicit and communicate with the constituent population.
We are seeking an Associate Director of Advancement Information Systems, under the general direction of the Executive Director, Strategic Analytics and Prospect Development, to serve as a strategic bridge between Advancement and IT-partnering closely with both to translate business needs into efficient, user-friendly system processes that support operational excellence and sound data practices. The ideal candidate has a passion for information organization and management, process assessment, improvement, and documentation, and maintaining excellent customer service to both our internal and external partners, while exhibiting excellent time management and organizational skills partnered with a high level of attention to detail.
Essential Functions
Strategic Systems & Data Leadership
- Collaborate with Advancement and IT to design and optimize CRM and other technical system-related processes.
- Lead and communicate project prioritization for IT's Advancement projects.
- Guide and co-develop system configurations, integrations (ETL, API), and data architecture.
- Lead data imports, cleanups, and Advancement system implementations.
- Monitor alumni/donor data health and document processes.
- Translate business needs into technical solutions that enhance operational efficiency.
Team Supervision & Training
- Supervise the Advancement Information Systems Coordinator.
- Lead the development and delivery of training programs and documentation.
- Serve as a resource for staff on database use, policies, and procedures.
Technology Support & CRM Optimization
- Manage the testing and implementation of system additions, modifications, and upgrades.
- Collaborate with University IT to locate, isolate, and resolve system bugs and issues.
- Communicate system and process updates, bugs, and issues among Advancement staff and stakeholders.
Partnerships & University Citizenship
- Serve as an active and collaborative partner to all central and unit-based Advancement staff and other campus colleagues, to foster strategic, effective, and collaborative career and professional development practices.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience (Veterans with equivalent combination of military certification/education and experience may substitute for the degree qualification).
- 3 years of experience in information systems with a basic understanding of data collection, manipulation, and complex relational databases, including 1 year of experience working with gifts data and records/database management in a large, complex environment, including a basic understanding of IRS rules and regulations.
- Management experience (to include direct management of projects or personnel).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a higher education or non-profit environment.
- Experience with CRM Advance or a comparable CRM/database solution.
- Experience developing APIs, system integrations, and ETL processes.
- Experience with gift entry and familiarity with complex gift accounting and administration processes.
- Knowledge of SQL.
Working Environment
- Standard open office environment.
- Noise level is quiet to moderate.
Physical Activities
- Ability to use a computer for an extended period
- Occasionally required to move about the office/campus with the capability of transporting objects up to 20 lbs. with assistance
Work Schedule
Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., some nights and weekends, as required. In accordance with the University's flexible work policy, this position is eligible to be considered for partial remote work. Further details regarding this plan will be determined with the hiring manager and are dependent on the division and team specific needs.

Salary Grade Number:
The salary grade for the position is 12.
Salary Range:
The salary range for this position is $75,000 - $85,000.
The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The University may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range.
