Job Description Job Title: Water Quality & Environmental Compliance Intern Posting Start Date: 1/16/26 Job Description: Compensation Data The base salary range represents a good faith salary range for this position. The expected pay range for this position is between $18.00 per hour and $28.00 per hour. If you are hired at American Water your compensation will be determined based on factors such as market, geography, skills, candidate's program year, discipline, and degree. Primary Role Join American Water as a Water Quality & Environmental Compliance Intern and gain first hand experience in how water utilities support communities and ensure sustainability. Collaborate with professionals to assist with environmental management and water quality activities for assigned facilities, ensuring compliance with all water quality and environmental regulations.Key Accountabilities Implement and manage monitoring and reporting programs to ensure compliance with federal and state water quality/environmental regulations and company standards. Analyze data and develop reports, including interpreting lead reports and records. Handle and document water quality customer complaints. Assist operations staff in water and wastewater facilities with routine production activities, including data collection and evaluation. Knowledge/Skills Detail-Oriented: Conduct thorough analyses and evaluations, and implement timely decisions and recommendations. Independent Worker: Manage time across multiple projects and deadlines. Collaborative: Seek input and coordinate with staff. Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills. Technical Proficiency: Good working knowledge of computer programs, databases, and software. Organizational Skills: Demonstrated organizational and administrative abilities. Analytical Skills: Good analytical and problem-solving skills. Experience/Education Currently enrolled in an Biology, Chemistry, or Environmental Science undergraduate degree program from an accredited school. Other Valid Driver's License. Ability to pass a background check.
