Job Summary:
As the Advanced Maintenance Technician, you will supervise and direct the Maintenance function of the facilities department. You will install, troubleshoot, service and maintain equipment and systems at ProMedica Defiance Regional Hospital.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
All duties listed below are essential unless noted otherwise
- Troubleshoots and repairs utility systems such as Low-Pressure Steam Systems, Electrical
Distribution Systems (480 volt 3-phase to low voltage signal circuits), HVAC Systems,
Plumbing Supply and Soiled Water Systems, Flammable Gas or Medical Gas Systems,
Communications, Fire Alarm System, Boiler Maintenance (steam and hot water), etc.
- Alters or removes utility systems to accommodate projects or utility alterations or
improvements as per engineered blueprints or drawings.
- Accepts on-call duty during the absence of the manager (ETO, illness, etc.) to respond to any
emergency situation.
Accepts on-call duty for other situations as agreed upon between the employee and hospital.
Minimum Skills:
a. Electrical - Repairs or replaces existing electrical circuits and conduits. Installs new
electrical services for equipment or lighting. Works with circuits up to 480 volts/three
phase. Rewires motor starters and control circuits. Can interpret NEC.
b. Plumbing - Repairs or replaces existing plumbing lines in supply or soiled water
applications. Works with metals and PVC in new or existing applications
c. Steam - Repairs or replaces traps, gaskets, stations, or valves in low pressure
applications. Installs new steam services. Performs water treatment analysis and
makes necessary adjustments. Can explain steam and cooling tower fundamentals.
d. Mechanical - Welds various metals. Installs and repairs drywall in metal-stud
applications. Repairs or replaces ductwork and mechanical controls.
e. Technical - Repairs or replaces communications systems such as Nurse Call, Intercom,
Radio, and Dictation.
f. General - Contacts manufacturers for technical assistance when needed and places
order for service and/or repair parts.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
High School graduate or equivalent, trade school or college a plus
Must possess the ability to interpret blueprints, electrical diagrams, and service manuals
Must possess the ability to perform water treatment chemical analysis and make chemical intake compensations
Must possess ability to install new equipment such as Nurse Call Stations, Electrical Appliances (up to 480 volt), Steam Equipment (Low Pressure), Alarm Systems, Mechanical Equipment, Pneumatic or Hydraulic Equipment, Computer Control Systems, Plumbing, etc
Must possess a current driver's license and be insurable under the Hospital auto policy
Minimum of 5 years of maintenance experience
