Robert Half Procurement Specialist in Defiance, Missouri
Description We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Procurement Specialist to join our team on a contract basis in Defiance, Missouri. In this role, you will oversee the sourcing and acquisition of plant materials for residential and commercial landscaping projects, ensuring timely delivery and cost efficiency. This position requires strong negotiation skills, vendor management expertise, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with project managers and inventory teams to evaluate project specifications, including plant lists and delivery schedules.
• Verify plant requirements for each project based on client needs and design specifications.
• Coordinate with inventory managers to assess stock levels, identify shortages, and prevent duplicate orders.
• Establish and maintain relationships with a network of vendors to source plant materials efficiently.
• Negotiate pricing, delivery terms, and timelines to secure quality products at competitive rates.
• Conduct thorough market research to locate rare plant materials and expand the vendor database.
• Track and manage plant orders, ensuring shipments are expedited when necessary to meet project deadlines.
• Maintain clear and accurate records of procurement activities, including vendor communications and inventory updates.
• Support procurement operations for both large-scale residential projects and commercial contracts.
• Proactively address and resolve sourcing or delivery issues to avoid project delays. Requirements • Previous experience in procurement or supply chain management, ideally in landscaping, nursery, or construction materials.
• Familiarity with plant species, availability, and seasonality is preferred but not mandatory.
• Strong skills in vendor negotiation, management, and market research.
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
• Demonstrated problem-solving skills in sourcing and logistics.
• Knowledge of corporate procurement processes, purchase orders, and contract negotiations.
• Ability to work independently while ensuring collaboration with key stakeholders.
