JOB REQUIREMENTS: Job Summary: The Material Handler / Receiving Associate supports the woodworking production floor by safely receiving, organizing, and delivering lumber, sheet goods, hardware, and components. This role ensures that materials are inspected, stored correctly to prevent damage or warping, and delivered to cabinetmakers and machine operators in a timely, accurate manner. Strong attention to detail, safe material-handling practices, and clear communication with production teams are essential. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Receive incoming shipments of lumber, sheet goods, hardware, and finished components; verify quantities and inspect for defects, moisture issues, or damage. Match incoming materials to purchase orders and enter receiving data into the ERP or inventory system. Label and store materials in designated racking, bins, or climate-controlled areas to maintain material quality. Stage and deliver materials to CNC, saw, edge bander, assembly, and finishing departments based on job travelers or production schedules. Handle sheet goods and lumber safely using forklifts, pallet jacks, carts, and panel-handling equipment. Maintain organized lumber racks, hardware bins, and material staging areas to support efficient workflow. Perform cycle counts and assist with inventory audits for lumber, hardware, and consumables. Communicate shortages, defects, or quality concerns to Purchasing, Production, or Quality teams. Prepare outgoing shipments, including packaging finished wood products to prevent damage during transport. Follow all safety procedures, including PPE use, equipment operation guidelines, and safe lifting techniques. Support continuous improvement efforts related to material flow, storage optimization, and inventory accuracy. Fast paced environment with ability to adapt to change and multitask Flexibility to align schedule with Machining department\'s work schedule for overtime as needed. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position. Hours of work are scheduled each week - 40-hour schedule Monday Thursday 6:00 am 3:30 am and Friday 6:00 am 10:00 am. 45-hour schedule Monday Thursday 6:00 am 4:30 pm and Friday 6:00 am 11:00 am 50-hour schedule Monday Thursday 5:00 am 4:30 pm and Friday 5:00 am 11:00 am Other Duties Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive list of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job. Read work orders or receive oral instructions to determine work assignments or material or equipment needs. Stack cargo in locations, such as transit sheds or in holds of ships as directed, using pallets or cargo boards. Record numbers of units handled or moved, using daily production sheets or work tickets. Install protective devices, such as bracing, padding, or strapping, to prevent shifting or damage to items being transported. Direct spouts and position receptacles, such as bins, carts, or containers, so they can be loaded. Attach slings, hooks, or other devices to lift cargo and guide loads. Maintain equipment storage areas to ensure that inventory is protected. Adjust controls to guide, position, or move equipment, such as cranes, booms, or cameras. Guide loads being lifted to prevent swinging. Wash out cargo containers or storage areas. Pack containers and re-pack damaged containers. Carry needed tools or supplies from storage or trucks and return them after use. Shovel material, such as gravel, ice, or spilled concrete, into containers or bins or onto conveyors. Connect electrical equipment to power sources so that it can be tested before use. Carry out general yard duties, such as performing shunting on railway lines. Rig or dismantle props or equipment, such as frames, scaffolding, platforms, or backdrops, using hand tools. Adjust or replace equipment parts, such as rollers, belts, plugs, or caps, using hand tools. Bundle and band material such as fodder or tobacco leaves, using banding machines. ***** OTHER EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: Qualifications Experience in woodworking, cabinetmaking, or manufacturing preferred. Familiarity with lumber species, sheet goods, hardware types, and woodworking materials. Ability to read packing slips, purchase orders, job travelers, and basic shop drawings. Strong attention to detail and accuracy in counting, labeling, and data entry. Basic computer skills; experience with ERP or inventory systems is a plus. Ability to safely lift and maneuver lumber, sheet goods, and hardware within required weight limits. Forklift certification or willingness to obtain certification. Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with cabinetmakers, machine operators, and supervisors. Reliable, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced shop environment.
