Clean Harbors Lab Chemist III in Deer Trail, Colorado
Summary
The Lab Chemist III is responsible for performing advanced qualitative and quantitative chemical analyses in a laboratory setting to support quality control, compliance, and operational goals. This role works with a variety of chemical substances, instruments, and testing methods while maintaining strict adherence to all Health & Safety policies and procedures. This position also plays a key role in training and mentoring entry-level laboratory staff.
Pay: $25 - $32 per hour
Monday - Friday
This position is Non-exempt, so it would be a full-time hourly role with potential for overtime hours/pay. 40 hours per week with optional overtime as desired.
Responsibilities
Perform advanced chemical analysis of samples in accordance with company standards and regulatory requirements
Complete all associated documentation (calibration logs, run logs, reports) accurately and in a timely manner
Calibrate, maintain, and operate laboratory equipment in compliance with the chemical hygiene plan
Ensure proper handling and disposal of waste generated during laboratory processes
Review and maintain knowledge of laboratory SOPs and achieve satisfactory scores on required assessments
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized laboratory environment; communicate inventory and supply needs
Train and mentor new or junior laboratory personnel
Follow all Health & Safety policies, procedures, and compliance standards
Perform additional duties as assigned based on business needs
Qualifications
Education & Experience:
Minimum: 2 years of college or specialized training in Chemistry or a related field
Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or related discipline
Experience: 5–7 years in a laboratory setting
Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered
Certifications (Preferred):
24- or 40-hour OSHA training with annual updates
DOT training
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Strong understanding of chemistry, math, and laboratory testing methods
Solid problem-solving and organizational skills
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Computer proficiency and data entry skills
Experience operating laboratory equipment and instrumentation
