Under direction, the Per Diem Associate Patient Care Coordinator delivers excellent customer service and support to patients, clinicians, and technologists, with primary responsibility for answering phones, scheduling and managing appointments including appropriate follow-up appointments, and conducting outreach calls on behalf of the radiology department. Able to work independently by demonstrating a high level of competence in all support roles. Works to improve radiology clinical and clerical operations through coordination of contact between technologists, patients and referrals outside the unit.
Location: Will be providing coverage at both locations below:

51 Performance Dr. Weymouth, MA
Schedule: This is a per diem role, will be working on an as needed basis only to provide coverage when needed. Will need to have flexibility to work an 8-hr shift between the business hours of Monday - Friday, 8am - 8pm (Sat & Sun, 7am - 3:30pm)

Primary Responsibilities:
Helps manage patient flow, access, and scheduling for technologists to optimize patient appointment availability. Helps determine urgency and priority of emergent add on exams
Schedules appointments for patients optimizing patient appointment availability
Assists patients with referral processing and communication with other departments. Performs outreach to patients for appropriate follow-up appointments. Determines urgency and priority of patient appointments
Appropriately schedules exams/procedures accordingly
Verifies patient insurance coverage and demographic information and collect co-pays and deductibles from patients who are having imaging exams in accordance with insurance programs
Makes appointment reminder phone calls as needed
Processes patient requests for copies of images/CD in accordance with Atrius' standard for release of patient information
Manages the patient flow within the department by adhering to the department check-in process
Monitors referral/work queue reports and provide necessary outreach for all open active referrals. Closes referrals when appropriate
May be required to monitor scheduling requests and schedules appointment requests accordingly
May assist with the checkout function, and appropriately book follow up appointments per department guidelines
Perform image sharing functions including but not limited to assuring availability of radiographs for medical appointments, coordinating previous imaging acquisition from other institutions and assisting in downloading CD's to patients EMR/PACS. Utilizes the Radiology Information System to verify and maintain correct demographic information in PACS
Appropriately tracks internal as well as external facility images that enter and leave the department per department policies
Assists in the communication of results to outside providers by faxing and/or routing per department protocol
Ensures that waiting room is maintained and orderly
Assists with training and orientation of new radiology support staff
Provides back-up coverage for other support staff as needed
Provides Imaging/radiology support staff coverage at various locations within the region as needed
Assists in resolving minor patients' concerns and complaints as appropriate
Performs other duties as assigned
Accesses only the minimum necessary protected health information (PHI) for the performance of job duties. Actively protects the confidentiality and privacy of all protected health information they access in all its forms (written, verbal, and electronic, etc.) taking reasonable precautions to prohibit unauthorized access. Complies with all Atrius Health and departmental privacy policies, procedures and protocols. Follows HIPAA privacy guidelines without deviation when handling protected health information

Required Qualifications:
High School Diploma/GED
1+ years of customer service experience
Intermediate level of proficiency with Microsoft Office products, etc.
Access to reliable transportation and valid US driver's license
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior experience in a medical/clinical setting
Previous experience in a job requiring the ability to multi-task and prioritize activities
Previous EPIC experience
Soft Skill:
Strong interpersonal, customer service, time management, computer and organizational skills required
Works in a busy medical/clinical office environment with constant contact with patients and clinicians and frequent interruptions

The hourly pay for this role will range from $16.15 to $28.80 per hour based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
