Our Team is based out of our Decatur, Arkansas manufacturing facility where we are committed to nutritional innovation, product quality, and safety. To ensure our product quality, we control the manufacturing process in Decatur, from consistent quality checks on all raw materials coming into the plant, to the shipment of our finished product to customers. Our employees take pride in the products we produce for the pets who depend on us.

What You-ll Accomplish

The Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Manager leads a comprehensive and proactive approach to safety, environmental, and risk management at the Decatur manufacturing facility. This role partners closely with operations to implement and continuously improve programs, processes, and procedures that protect employees, property, and the environment while ensuring full regulatory compliance.

This position serves as both a strategic leader and hands-on operational partner - supporting day-to-day production needs, driving safety culture, and ensuring effective execution of all Wellness Pet safety and environmental standards, training, and compliance requirements.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Lead site-wide safety and environmental programs to ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and all applicable regulations.

  • Drive a proactive safety culture by partnering with leaders and employees to reinforce safe behaviors and accountability at all levels.

  • Coach, develop, and hold leaders accountable for executing safety expectations within their teams and daily operations.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies, audits, and inspections, ensuring site readiness at all times.

  • Maintain OSHA 300 logs, environmental reporting, and all required compliance documentation.

  • Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

  • Own and manage internal and external corrective action processes, ensuring timely resolution, compliance, and sustained improvement.

  • Conduct safety audits, risk assessments, and Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), including oversight of weekly and monthly audit processes and follow-up actions.

  • Ensure completion of required safety and food safety training, documentation, and compliance reporting; escalate risks or deviations to Quality and site leadership as appropriate.

  • Ensure all safety, environmental, and compliance policies and procedures are current, implemented, and consistently followed across the site.

  • Partner with Production, Maintenance, Engineering, and Quality to integrate safety into daily operations and continuous improvement efforts.

  • Provide real-time guidance and support to operations on safety, environmental, and risk-related decisions.

  • Support new equipment installations and capital projects by ensuring EHS requirements are met from design through startup.

  • Lead all safety and environmental training programs, ensuring employees are trained and capable of executing expectations.

  • Drive adherence to GMP, food safety, and BRC requirements as they relate to safety and environmental practices.

  • Monitor and report on EHS performance metrics, identifying trends and opportunities for improvement.

  • Lead safety communication efforts, ensuring clear, consistent messaging and strong employee engagement.

  • Promote positive employee relations while reinforcing accountability and ownership.

  • This is not an exhaustive list of all job duties/responsibilities. Additional duties will be assigned.

    Who We-re Looking For

Team Wellie is a group of people who are truly obsessed in all the best ways about winning for the consumer and the pets they love. We are seeking an individual who:

  • Leads by example and promotes a safety-first mindset across all levels of the organization.

  • Holds themselves and others accountable for safety, compliance, and performance.

  • Communicates effectively and collaborates across departments to support safe and efficient operations.

  • Thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment where priorities can shift quickly.

  • Is proactive in identifying risks and implementing solutions before issues occur.

  • Uses data, audits, and observations to drive continuous improvement.

  • Builds trust and engagement through consistent coaching, feedback, and presence on the floor.

  • Embraces continual development through feedback and learning opportunities.

  • Gives back to their community and supports sustainable practices.

  • Embraces the Wellie Way - caring deeply about pets, people, and doing what-s right for both.

This role is ideal for a leader who is highly visible on the production floor, drives accountability through strong partnerships with operations, and is passionate about building a proactive safety culture - not just maintaining compliance.

In addition, for this specific role, we need someone with:

  • Bachelor-s degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Safety, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience).

  • 7+ years of experience in EHS within a manufacturing environment, preferably food or pet food production.

  • Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and regulatory compliance requirements.

  • Experience leading safety programs, audits, and incident investigations.

  • Proven ability to influence leaders and drive cultural change in a manufacturing setting.

  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced plant environment with variable conditions and physical demands.
