The Powertrain Commodity Calibration Technical Specialist position provides technical leadership to the calibration team to enable delivery of the propulsion attributes for all global programs that utilize their powerpack with maximum efficiency. The position requires a self-motived technical leader that can lead creation and maintenance of the calibration processes to ensure robust calibration delivery. The technical specialist is responsible for sign-off of the technical attributes and validation of the released calibration. The technical specialist is the go-to problem solving individual in the department to lead resolution of launch, recall, and field quality issues. The technical specialist role provides mentoring, coaching, and training for the engineers within the department.
What you'll do...
Provide technical leadership for engine calibration to deliver propulsion attributes, using data-driven signoff and validation to meet measures of success
Lead calibration workgroup (via Cal PAT meeting) to ensure calibration commonality among powerpack applications.
Serve as Mentor/Coach for Calibrators and guide issue resolution
Develop new and innovative techniques to continuously improve quality and reduce calibration development time
Lead interface meeting with engine and transmission teams to ensure proper alignment between hardware, calibration, and program targets
Review completion and sign-off of the calibration release checklist prior to every CFX release.
Partner with Commodity TE community (Gasoline and Diesel) to achieve common global processes where appropriate and beneficial
Lead creation of new APRs to proactively reduce errors and respond to gPR actions
Promote and lead the use of the latest calibration tools and methods (CFX, Calibration DVP, Feature Sign-Off, Sign-off File Compares, APR Adherence, Calibration Release Checklist, etc.)
Ensure that current Calibration Guides reflect latest best practices & Lessons Learned, and develop/maintain assigned Calibration Guides.
Lead in-vehicle or lab data acquisition using ATI and other systems as required to support calibration development and signoff including test trips
Lead resolution of emerging QSF and other on-going field quality issues
Support training and coaching of calibration team and participate in GSR related workgroup discussions
You'll have...
B.S. (M.S. preferred) in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical) or other B.S. in Engineering with adequate PT experience
10+ years of Powertrain experience
6+ years of Powertrain Calibration experience, including program delivery through launch and quality tracking
In-depth understanding of engine controls, emissions components, and test methods
Must have excellent oral and written communication skills
Able to manage multiple issues on multiple programs effectively and efficiently
Outstanding leadership skills with demonstrated ability to deliver results
Ability to lead and mentor engineers and co-workers
Willingness to Travel

This position is leadership level 6 and ranges from $112,680-212,760.
Final determination of salary grade will be based on candidate's skills and experience, and base salary will be set within the applicable range according to job scope, responsibility and competitive market value.

This position is hybrid. Candidates who are in commuting distance to a Ford hub location may be required to be onsite four or more days per week.
