Ford Motor Company Lifecycle Cost Supervisor in Dearborn, Michigan

In this position...

This position will lead a team to manage Material Cost over the lifecycle of the assigned vehicle portfolio. Working hand-in-hand with the Vehicle Program Director, Chief Program Engineers, and their program leads the objective is to maintain a competitive material cost across the different model years in order to achieve and maintain the segment EBIT margin.

What you'll do...

  • Advocate for Cost Culture across the company, with emphasis on the four principles: Don't Over-Design, Don't Over-Content, Don't Over-Pay and the Best Part is No Part

  • Attend and support Program forums such as the PST, CPE DF, Finance PAT to represent the Material Cost attribute

  • Prepare for and Conduct Cost Loop workshops in the early phases of program development to determine an efficient cost status by commodity and part level details that support the EBIT Target Income Statement for cost and target upload into FEDE.

  • Investigate and close out material cost opportunities coming from the Cost Loop workshops, working to optimize cost using a Systems approach and to fill a program funnel

  • Utilize the suite of digital ecosystem tools managed by Global Total Cost to document efficient cost start points, physical content and sourcing changes, competitive benchmarks, Optimal Cost Estimates, etc.

  • Leverage in-cycle cost reduction ideas in CRID and gain agreement to implement where the business case makes the most sense. While pushing ideas from Program Status back into in-cycle incorporation where earlier incorporation makes sense.

  • Monitor competitive benchmarking globally and leverage observations and discoveries to challenge Ford's content or requirements

You'll have...

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business, Finance, or a related technical field (or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience).

  • 5+ years of experience in Competitive Automotive Design Analysis, including deep-dive benchmarking, teardown analysis, and a strong understanding of global automotive market trends.

  • Proven ability to lead, mentor, and inspire high-performing teams, fostering a culture of accountability and excellence.

  • Expert planning and execution skills, with a relentless focus on delivering high-quality results within complex, fast-paced environments.

  • Demonstrated success in leading diverse, multi-disciplinary teams and navigating matrixed organizations to achieve common goals.

  • A solid command of project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall) with the ability to construct, track, and drive critical milestones from concept to execution.

  • A high-energy self-starter mindset with the ability to manage ambiguity, take full responsibility for workstreams, and deliver results with minimal oversight.

  • The "courage of conviction" to effectively synthesize complex data into actionable insights and present recommendations confidently to senior leadership.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messaging for technical teams, stakeholders, and executive audiences.

Even better, you'll have...

  • Experience or certification in Systems Engineering (e.g., INCOSE), specifically regarding the integration of hardware and software in modern vehicle architectures.

  • MBA or direct experience managing Automotive Financial Income Statements (P&L), including cost-to-revenue analysis and profitability modeling.

  • Familiarity with advanced data visualization tools or competitive intelligence platforms used in automotive benchmarking.

This position is leadership level 6 and ranges from $112,680-212,760.

Final determination of salary grade will be based on candidate's skills and experience, and base salary will be set within the applicable range according to job scope, responsibility and competitive market value.

This position is hybrid. Candidates who are in commuting distance to a Ford hub location may be required to be onsite four or more days per week.
