Role Overview
As a Senior Engineer in Product Safety for GE Aerospace Avionics and Electric Power North America, you will help GE Aerospace bring to market our next generation of innovative, industry leading products by leveraging your technical leadership and product safety expertise. This role utilizes Product Safety technical expertise, program execution experience, and strong written and oral communication skills to successfully lead Product Safety efforts on multiple commercial and military development programs.
Roles and Responsibilities
This position has a strong technical focus in addition to mentoring responsibilities; the responsibilities for this role include:
Oversee and/or assist with the execution of development safety activities to include: generating Safety requirements, performing Safety assessments and activities (FHA, PSSA, SSA, Fault Tree Analyses, Common Cause Analyses, SAR, etc.)
Provide development Safety technical leadership and technical direction for assigned Safety programs
Support the growth of technical talent within the team by mentoring in Safety risk assessments and other development Safety concepts and methodologies
Foster a forward-looking culture focused on proactive engagement and issue prevention
Coordinate with the US Development Safety leader to establish and execute organization goals and priorities
Form engaged and meaningful teaming relationships with internal stakeholders and peers to enable team success
Support the development and maintenance of highly efficient GE Aerospace Safety processes and standards and promote across Avionics & Electric Power
Provide coaching and guidance to engineers in day-to-day activities
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and/or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited university or college
Minimum of 5 years of experience in technical product development or similar new product introduction / launch experience
Minimum of 5 years of experience in Aviation Safety and/or Aerospace Safety
Desired Characteristics
7+ years of experience in Safety Engineering within the Aviation industry
Experience with GE Aerospace Avionics and Electric Power standards and processes
Familiarity with commercial & military Safety Engineering practices and associated industry standards, policies and procedures.
Strong oral and written communication skills (ability to clearly and concisely communicate complex issues to leadership)
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve complex problems
Demonstrated ability to plan and execute programs; established project management skills
Ability to guide and influence others
This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information.
