Working at the EPISCenter
Our EPISCenter in Dayton, OH is the headquarters for all of Aviation Power Engineering. Our Engineers develop new technologies and deliver state-of-the-art products such as hybrid-electric aircraft, the latest military platforms, and SiC technology. This facility is also home to a 155,000-square-foot laboratory that includes 7 high power test cells totaling 15 MW, an EMI chamber, an electronics lab, a rapid build prototype lab, and a real-time simulator lab with all the latest equipment.
Role Overview
The Lead Process Assurance Engineer reports to the Sub-Section Manager for Process Assurance within the Chief Engineer’s Office for US Power. The ultimate mission of Process Assurance is to provide independent assurance that engineering plans and processes are followed and that engineering outputs are the result of suitable, rigorous, and structured processes enacted throughout the product lifecycle. The Lead Process Assurance Engineer will conduct activities to ensure engineering compliance to applicable regulatory, industry, customer, and company standards.
Roles and Responsibilities
Provide independent assurance on external standards (including governmental, industrial, and contractual) as applicable to Power electronics
Ensure all internal GE Aerospace procedures, policies, and processes applicable to engineering activities are followed
Conduct assessments and audits of engineering activities to gauge compliance with applicable regulatory, industrial, and company standards
Review technical documentation with a focus on Quality and Compliance requirements
Generate and follow plans and work instructions for the execution of Process Assurance functions
Serve as a domain expert with regard to aerospace standards including RTCA/DO-178, RTCA/DO-254, RTCA/DO-297, and SAE ARP4754A.
Contribute to the success of product development teams
Provide expert advice on alternative approaches to Engineering activities
Ensure Quality records are maintained, metrics are collected, and reports are submitted
Evaluate, develop, and publish quality metrics and audit results to the project team and other stakeholders
Interface with and provide support to regulatory authorities, customer representatives, and suppliers
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 7 years of experience in Quality)
Minimum of 3 years of experience in Quality
Minimum of 3 years of experience in process auditing and/or systems auditing
This position requires U.S. citizenship status
Preferred Qualifications
5+ years of experience in process and system auditing
3+ years of experience with new product development / launch
Strong oral and written communication skills
Strong computer and electronic proficiency
Strong personal code of ethics and a high level of integrity
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
Experience in aerospace electronics and avionics engineering and development
Strong understanding of aircraft certification processes (esp. FAA, EASA)
Complete knowledge of RTCA/DO-178B, RTCA/DO-254, RTCA/DO-297, and SAE ARP4754A
This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information.
