Bureau of Reclamation Electrician (Power System) in Davis Dam, Arizona

Summary Reclamation is seeking a career professional looking for an opportunity to capitalize on their expertise as a Electrician (Power System). You can make a difference in the West by assisting in meeting increasing water demands while protecting the environment. Duty Location: Lower Colorado Dams Office, Davis Dam Field Division located in Bullhead City, AZ. Remote/telework not available. Responsibilities - Responsible for performing journeyman class work in the electrical and hydro-operator trades. - Calibrates and tests generator relay protection equipment. - Participates in the revision and updating of standard operating procedures, operation manuals, and operating guidelines, for all new or modified equipment. - Operates control boards, exciters, disconnects, power circuit breakers, load and voltage control equipment, and signal systems in a power plant. - Operates large gates and valves to maintain proper river flows and for watering and unwatering penstocks, scroll cases and draft tubes. - Observes and checks power control equipment for proper sequence of operation and completeness of control. - Synchronizes units on the bus and operates transmission line breakers as directed by the Foreman, or as required to meet plant operational needs. - Operates high voltage switches and related devices in connection with their work and writes clearances under guidelines of the Bureau of Reclamation Hazardous Energy Control Program (HECP). - Maintains daily, weekly, and monthly reports on generation, river flow, outages, weather conditions, hourly indicating and integrating meter data, and other miscellaneous operating records to include the plant log book. - Responsible for the consolidated operation of all plant generating resources and voltage control. Responsible for plant inspections and water facilities, waterway inspections, Switchyard and dam operations. -Conducts Operation duties along with Electrical duties, including placing and removal of equipment clearances and Operator duties on a monthly rotational cycle. Requirements Conditions of Employment You must be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. National. You must be suitable for federal employment, determined by a background investigation. You must maintain a valid State Driver's License at all times as the position requires operation of government vehicles on government and public roads. A physical exam may not be required if a comparable agency approved examination was performed within the last 12 months. The cost of the exam will be reimbursed by the agency. Additional Information Condition of Employment For Probationary Period: As a condition of employment for accepting this position, you may be required to serve a one year probationary period during which your fitness and whether your continued employment advances the public interest will be evaluated.
