JOB TITLE: GENERAL UTILITY WORKER
POSITION OVERVIEW
The General Utility Worker is an entry‑level production role in a meat‑processing facility, supporting daily operations through sanitation, material handling, and general production tasks. This position is ideal for dependable workers who thrive in fast‑paced environments and want to build a foundation in food manufacturing.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Support production by following all GMP, HACCP, and food safety procedures.
Maintain clean, safe, and sanitary production areas throughout the shift.
Remove product, packaging, trash, and recycling from work areas.
Properly dispose of and track inedible product.
Assist with equipment setup, breakdown, and basic adjustments such as tape, code dates, film, or pallets.
Stage production areas, supplies, and ingredients to keep operations running smoothly.
Inspect product, labels, and code dates to ensure quality standards are met.
Operate a manual hand jack to move materials and supplies.
Relieve team members for breaks and assist in different production areas as needed.
Communicate equipment issues or sanitation concerns immediately to leadership.
Complete required paperwork accurately and on time.
Perform other duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS
Ability to stand and walk for the entire shift.
Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs regularly.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to food safety.
Ability to follow instructions and work with minimal supervision.
Comfort working around meat‑processing equipment and moving machinery.
Willingness to work weekends and overtime as needed.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Previous experience in general labor, production, packing, or food manufacturing.
Familiarity with GMP and HACCP practices.
Willingness to assist with training new employees.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
- This position operates in a meat‑processing facility with both cold (approximately 30°F) and warm areas. The environment is physically demanding, fast‑paced, and noisy, with regular exposure to moving equipment. Employees are required to wear proper safety and protective equipment and must be able to perform repetitive physical tasks throughout the shift.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Davenport, IA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr.
