Summary:

Position will be the Team Leader for the Sterile Processing Department, responsible for the evening operation of the department. This includes supervising employees in the coordination, monitoring, and deployment of SPD products for procedures occurring during the evening, and preparing SPD products for the next day's OR cases.

Responsibilities:

  1. Responsible for the evening operation for the department, where employees are supervised in the decontamination and sterilization of products and instruments.

  2. Coordinates the staff preparation of instrument and supply case picks for the next day's OR cases, using the modified cart system.

  3. When necessary, performs manual and physical duties of a CSS Technician.

  4. Maintains standards for sterilization per Joint Commission and regulatory agencies during evening hours.

  5. Prepares work assignments for staff during evening shift.

  6. Monitors and educates staff on the use of pick tickets and case cards to ensure 100% accuracy and completion of case carts.

  7. Transfers critical information on status of sterilization, supplies, and instruments to the department manager.

  8. Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.

  9. Performs other duties as assigned.

Education: HS GRAD/EQUIVALENT

Other Information:

Required: High School, Certified Sterile Processing.

Minimum Experience: Three years.

Associate's Degree preferred.

Working Conditions:

Manual: significant manual skills/motor coord & finger dexterity

Occupational: Significant occupational risk

Physical Effort: Very Heavy effort. May exert up to 50 lbs. force

Physical Environment: Significant exposure to dirt, odors, noise, human waste, etc.
