Robert Half Staff Accountant in Dallas, Texas

Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team on a contract basis with the potential for a permanent position in Dallas, Texas. In this role, you will oversee the financial reporting and accounting operations for a portfolio of commercial real estate properties. This position offers an excellent opportunity to apply your expertise in property-level accounting and ensure accurate financial reporting for key stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

• Manage the general ledger for a portfolio of commercial real estate properties and entities.

• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for assigned properties.

• Perform month-end closing activities, including creating journal entries, accruals, and reclassifications.

• Reconcile bank accounts, tenant receivables, and operating expense accounts to ensure accuracy.

• Record and maintain accurate data on rent, common area maintenance fees, and tenant reimbursements.

• Assist in preparing annual budgets and financial forecasts for the properties.

• Maintain fixed asset schedules and calculate depreciation for real estate assets.

• Ensure compliance with applicable real estate accounting standards and regulations.

• Collaborate with property management teams to address accounting-related inquiries and issues.

• Support audits and provide documentation as needed for financial reviews. Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.

• 2–5 years of accounting experience, preferably within real estate or property management.

• Proficiency in accrual accounting and financial reporting practices.

• Hands-on experience with property management accounting systems such as Yardi, AppFolio, or similar platforms.

• Strong skills in Microsoft Excel, including the ability to work with complex spreadsheets.

• High level of accuracy and attention to detail in managing multiple properties and competing deadlines.

• Understanding of corporate tax, sales tax, and related accounting principles.

• Effective organizational and communication skills to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
