Job Description
AECOM Hunt has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Electrical Preconstruction Planner to join our team of professionals in Dallas, TX.
The Sr. Preconstruction Planner will assist in early-project planning to define scope, schedule, cost, risk, and constructability for complex, large-venue and institutional projects (sports arenas, campuses, hospitals, and airports) with specific focus on electrical systems. This role partners with estimating, design teams, owners, utility providers, and trade partners to produce accurate electrical budgets, phased schedules, procurement strategies, value-engineering recommendations, and detailed electrical constructability and coordination plans that enable successful project delivery.
Job Duties:
Participate in electrical preconstruction planning for multiple large projects through bid/award and into early mobilization.
Develop initial and phased master schedules (critical path, milestone, look-ahead) integrating design milestones, procurement lead times, long-lead items, site logistics, and commissioning.
Produce and validate conceptual and detailed cost plans in coordination with estimators; identify cost drivers and opportunities for value engineering.
Assess constructability and develop mitigation plans for site constraints, phasing, MEP coordination and specialized systems typical to sports, healthcare, aviation, and education.
Create procurement strategies for long-lead and electrical specialty packages; coordinate prequalification and scope definition for specialty trades.
Produce logistics and sequencing plans addressing site access, laydown, MEP routing, phasing around occupied facilities, shutdowns, and temporary facilities.
Prepare and present preconstruction reports, owner briefings, and recommendation memos to senior leadership and owners.
Support value-engineering recommendations, and detailed electrical constructability and coordination plans that enable successful project delivery.

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- BS Engineering/Construction Management and 6 years of relevant construction experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
6 years of preconstruction, planning, or project engineering experience on large commercial/institutional projects with significant electrical scope; experience in sports, healthcare, aviation, or higher-education projects strongly preferred.
Demonstrated ability to develop CPM schedules (Primavera P6, Microsoft Project) and electrical cost models.
Strong understanding of electrical systems: medium/high-voltage distribution, switchgear, transformers, generators, UPS, ATS, MCCs, lighting systems, emergency/standby power, low-voltage systems (BAS, fire alarm, security, AV), grounding/earthing, and arc-flash considerations.
Proven experience managing long-lead electrical procurement and specialty trade scope definition; familiarity with utility coordination and service upgrade processes.
Experience with electrical one-line diagrams, load calculations, fault current/coordination studies, and commissioning/acceptance testing.
Excellent written and verbal communication; able to present electrical strategies to owners and executive leadership.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; proficient in risk identification and mitigation for electrical systems.
Proficiency with MS Office; experience with BIM coordination tools (Revit, Navisworks) and electrical modeling/estimating software is highly desirable.

Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The range for this position is $98525.64 to $182272.43.
