Position Description:
CGI is seeking a Senior AI Platform Engineer to lead the design, implementation, and optimization of our container orchestration platforms powering next-generation AI/ML workloads. In this role, you will play a critical part in architecting and evolving our Kubernetes infrastructure across Azure and Google Cloud, directly contributing to the build and scale of our GenAI platform.
This role blends deep technical expertise in Kubernetes and cloud infrastructure with strategic vision. You will work closely with AI/ML and Enterprise Platform Architects to ensure the reliability, scalability, and security of our cloud-native platforms, accelerating the delivery of cutting-edge GenAI capabilities.
This role can be performed on a hybrid basis onsite at a local CGI office within the United States.
Your future duties and responsibilities:
Platform Leadership: Lead the architecture, deployment, and lifecycle management of Kubernetes clusters across production, staging, and development environments.
Architecture & Strategy: Architect and maintain multi-cloud or hybrid Kubernetes environments (GKE, AKS, or self-managed).
Standards & Best Practices: Collaborate with engineering teams to define platform standards, service deployment models, and cloud-native best practices.
Automation: Drive the adoption of GitOps, Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), and modern cloud-native tooling.
Security & Compliance: Implement enterprise-grade security within Kubernetes, including RBAC, network policies, and PodSecurityStandards.
Observability: Design and implement robust logging, monitoring, and observability solutions.
Mentorship: Guide and mentor junior engineers in platform engineering principles and Kubernetes excellence.
Operational Excellence: Optimize infrastructure for cost, performance, and availability; participate in incident response, root cause analysis, and capacity planning.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role:
Kubernetes Expertise: 5+ years of experience with Kubernetes in enterprise or large-scale environments, including managing production workloads at scale.
Cloud Proficiency: 3+ years of experience in cloud platforms (Azure, GCP, or AWS) with a strong grasp of cloud-native patterns.
Infrastructure-as-Code: Strong command of tools such as Terraform and Helm.
CI/CD & GitOps: Expertise in pipelines and tools (e.g., ArgoCD, Flux, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or GitLab).
Azure Networking: Deep experience with VNET peering, Azure App Gateway, Load Balancers, Traffic Manager, VPN Gateways, and ExpressRoute.
Identity & Directory Services: Functional knowledge of DNS, Active Directory, ADFS, and Certificate Authorities.
Containerization: In-depth knowledge of Docker and container lifecycle management.
Performance & Scaling: Extensive experience in infrastructure capacity planning, performance tuning, and scaling techniques.
Monitoring Stacks: Proficiency with tools like SigNoz, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK/EFK, Datadog, or New Relic.
Scripting: Excellent programming skills in Python, Go, or Bash.
Business Operations: Familiarity with licensing/subscription vehicles (Microsoft Enterprise Agreements or CSP).
Preferred Qualifications
Certifications: Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) or Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD).
Service Mesh: Experience with Istio, Linkerd, or Consul.
Policy Engines: Familiarity with OPA/Gatekeeper or Kyverno.
Database Management: Experience with self-managed PostgreSQL is a significant plus.
Advanced Networking: Experience managing multi-tenant or federated Kubernetes environments.
Compliance: Background in security frameworks such as SOC2, HIPAA, or HITRUST.

The determination of this range includes various factors not limited to skill set, level, experience, relevant training, and licensure and certifications. To support the ability to reward for merit-based performance, CGI typically does not hire individuals at or near the top of the range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this role in the U.S. is $90,700.00 - $194,000.00.
