Job Title: Accounting Assistant

Job Description

The Accounting Assistant provides essential financial and administrative support to project managers and project accountants, with a primary focus on project billing, cost review, and invoice generation. This role supports the financial health of projects by ensuring costs are accurate, billable activities comply with contract terms, and invoices are produced timely and correctly. The position operates in a project-based accounting environment common to engineering and professional services firms. This role operates in a collaborative, project-driven environment and serves as a foundational position within project accounting.

Responsibilities

  • Review project costs, labor, and expenses for accuracy and compliance prior to billing.

  • Generate and prepare client invoices, including fixed fee, time & materials, and reimbursables.

  • Support monthly and cyclical billing processes.

  • Collaborate with Project Managers on billable versus non-billable cost clarification.

  • Assist Project Accountants with maintaining accurate project financial records.

  • Support project budgeting activities and financial status reporting.

  • Maintain billing documentation and invoice support schedules.

  • Assist with project close-out and final billing activities.

Essential Skills

  • 2 years of Billing or Invoicing experience.

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.

  • Effective communication skills and comfort working with cross-functional teams.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Dallas, TX.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $29.00/hr.
