Dairy Farmers of America (DFA) has an opening for a Logistics Specialist position.
Office : 8401 N. Central Expressway, Suite 400 Dallas, TX 75225
Perform a wide variety of duties to support logistics operations and management with decision making. This may include reporting, analyses, key performance indicator (KPI) tracking, hauler/carrier scorecard management, hauler payroll, financial activities, and customer service. Make sure that the needs of internal and external customers are met and maintain positive business relationships with customers. Represent the logistics department on special projects. Use prescribed guidelines or policies to analyze and resolve problems. Receive a moderate level of guidance and direction.
Develop, enhance, and provide a variety of operational reporting to management
Perform analysis on operational activity, such as trends, forecasts, benchmarks, financial/cost, service, etc.
Help in planning and maintaining logistics policies and procedures
Keep proper records of all forms of transactions relating to the company’s logistics operations
Resolve problems that are related to transportation and logistics systems. Provide support in the development and implementation of transportation management or information systems
Manage and update hauler/carrier scorecard information. Review areas of opportunity and coordinate with appropriate internal employees to help drive efficiencies and improvement
Track KPIs and provide timely updates or reports to management, highlighting areas of concern, improvement, or excellence
Ensure hauler/carrier requirements, such as contracts and insurance certificates, are correct, timely, and up to regulatory policy
Perform a variety of financial related activities, which may include:
Manage hauler payroll/carrier financial system, facilitate the accurate and timely payment to contract haulers/carriers, and coordinate processing of system changes in hauling rates, producer alignments, and customer ship-to and bill-to locations
Ensure accurate payment of contract haulers/carriers (maintain codes, clear edits, fuel surcharge, control advance payments, etc.)
Initiate invoicing as appropriate; track and verify accuracy of all vendors invoices
Manage centralized billing programs, ensuring fleet expenses are properly recorded and deviation from budget and forecast are investigated
Serve as a department representative on special projects that require logistics knowledge, research, analytics and collaboration among affected participants

Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner and maintain and organize vendor files and documentation
Prepare and process reconciliation, accruals, credits and analysis on trends
Communicate effectively with internal/external customers and vendors to resolve inquiries and issues
Assist with month-end closing procedures, including accruals and reconciliations in timely manner
Other duties may be assigned as required

Requirements
Education and Experience
Undergraduate degree in business, logistics, supply chain, or related curriculum (or equivalent combination of experience and education)
2 to 5 years of dispatching, logistics, transportation, supply chain, or related experience
Certification and/or License – may be required during course of employment
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of the principles, practices, and economics of distribution and logistics
Knowledge of and skill with Microsoft Office Suite and company computer systems
Analytical skills
Able to interact positively and work effectively with others (interpersonal skills)
Able to bring a project to completion and adhere to steps and timelines
Able to work effectively in cross-functional teams
Able to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing
Able to multi-task and prioritize work activities
Able to work with accuracy and attention to detail
