Smurfit Westrock Affixing Operator in Dallas, Texas
GENERAL PURPOSE: Maintain machine work flow to meet due dates for assigned machines. Serve as the Lead Technician in the maintenance and production output of the Finishing work cell.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
\u2022 Operates Affixing machine to keep up with scheduled workload.
\u2022 Cross trains on additional packaging machines as needed.
\u2022 Looks up and understands customer requirements.
\u2022 Sets up and operates camera systems per job specifications.
\u2022 Adheres to Quality Control processes.
\u2022 Sets up labeler.
\u2022 Sets up packaging.
\u2022 Evaluates set up/make-ready for standard projects and identifies opportunities for improved efficiency and set up reduction.
\u2022 Works closely with department manager utilizing lean methodology to improve efficiencies in work flows.
\u2022 Provides technical support when required.
\u2022 Enters accurate information into data collection system.
\u2022 Reads job tickets, verifies job and part numbers match affixing mockup before loading machine.
\u2022 Checks register and make necessary adjustments to produce expected output.
\u2022 Monitors quality outputs, making adjustments as necessary.
\u2022 Completes paperwork recording counts.
\u2022 Follows the 5S principals.
\u2022 Maintains machine; performs repairs as necessary.
\u2022 Operates utilizing good manufacturing practices.
\u2022 Sets up standardized practices for machine for improved efficiencies.
\u2022 Maintains the maintenance records for machine.
\u2022 Inspects any repairs made by operators.
\u2022 Participates in all machine related Lean initiatives.
\u2022 Sustains cleanliness and organization in all machine areas using 5S principles.
\u2022 Understands lock out tag out procedures.
\u2022 Trains as a Lock Out Tag Out Authorized Employee.
\u2022 Troubleshoots issues requiring machine safety guard or panel removal and the locking out of the machine.
\u2022 Locks out machine if and when an unsafe condition is noted as reported by an operator or noted by self.
\u2022 Performs other job duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
\u2022 Must have high school diploma or G.E.D.
\u2022 Minimum 2 years\u2019 prior experience working with manufacturing machines (Ga-Vehren, Kirk Rudy, Shanklin) preferred.
\u2022 Must be proficient with a computer related to the controls for affixing lines and camera systems.
\u2022 Must have the ability to read and write instructions and correspondence in English.
\u2022 Must have the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedural manuals.
\u2022 Must be able to maintain good attendance.
\u2022 Must be willing to work overtime as needed; significant overtime may be required during busy periods.
\u2022 Must be able to perform all essential functions of this job with or without reasonable accommodation.
