Summary
The Advanced Metering System (AMS) Data Analyst position uses data to obtain information about topics related to Oncor’s AMS. The AMS Data Analyst must gather relevant data, interpret it to extract the requested information, and present results in formats such as charts or reports. The data used to support daily analysis includes meter asset data, meter event data, meter communication data, meter energy data, customer information, customer service order data, and other related data maintained across various documents, relational databases, and time series databases. Information derived from AMS data is used to support system performance metrics, root cause analysis of meter equipment failures, maintenance activities, and similar operational needs.
The AMS Data Analyst will perform most work on a computer, either at a desk in an office or onsite, and must be able to sit for extended periods. The position may require working more than 40 hours per week to meet deadlines, particularly during critical project phases. You will be required to report onsite five days a week at the Downtown Dallas Corporate Office. We are considering applicants with multiple experience levels. Key Roles & Responsibilities
Assists in collecting Oncor’s AMS requirements, identifying technical issues, and designing reports to meet data analysis needs.
Provides feedback and ideas regarding new data sources and methods to improve data collection, analysis, and reporting.
Collects, analyzes, and reports data to meet Oncor’s AMS requirements.
Designs basic reports to monitor and analyze AMS system processes related to daily and fifteen-minute interval energy data.
Designs basic reports to validate the synchronization of the AMS application with other applications, including the customer information system, asset management system, and mobile workforce management system.
Designs basic reports to monitor and analyze meter assets, events, communications, energy, service orders, customer information, and other related data.
Designs basic reports to validate Market exceptions related to daily metering processes.
Receives instruction, guidance, and direction from others.
Deliver data visualizations in the form of dashboards, reports, or embedded application visualizations.
Develop analytical models to assist management in decision making.
Performs all essential job functions, as well as any other specific job requirements, maintenance activities, or similar tasks.
Skills
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, Microsoft SharePoint, SQL, data analysis, data entry, statistical analysis, and databases.
Strong communication skills.
Strong leadership skills.
Experience with reporting and visualization tools.
Analytical problem-solving skills.
Proficient automating tasks using Python.
Knowledge of Selenium.
Proficient with data science and advanced analytic development technologies (Python, Hadoop, R).
Experience testing software or managing projects.
Education and Experience
AMS Data Analyst III
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent and 2+ years of relevant work-related analytics experience is required.
Applicants with a Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in statistics, mathematics, engineering, computer science, or business administration AND 1+ years of relevant analytics experience will be considered in lieu of the above criteria.
Applicants with data analytics related certifications encouraged to apply.
AMS Data Analyst Sr. I
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent and 3+ years of relevant work-related analytics experience is required.
Applicants with a Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in statistics, mathematics, engineering, computer science, or business administration AND 2+ years of relevant analytics experience will be considered in lieu of the above criteria.
Applicants with data analytics related certifications encouraged to apply.
Master’s Degree encouraged to apply.
AMS Data Analyst Sr. II
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent and 4+ years of relevant work-related analytics experience is required.
