Aerotek Mechanical Assembler in Cypress, California

Job Title: Mechanical Assembler Job Description

Join our team as a Mechanical Assembler, where you will be responsible for assembling high-speed turbo motor, generator, and turbo machinery equipment. Your role will involve performing sub-assembly and full system level testing in accordance with aerospace defense industry standards, using applicable drawings, schematics, and specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble and test motor/generator components and subassemblies.

  • Utilize metrology tools such as height gauges, calipers, and micrometers for assembly processes.

  • Calculate stack-up tolerancing of subassemblies.

  • Use advanced machine assembly tooling, including hoists, cranes, and fixtures.

  • Conduct electrical checks such as resistance, inductance, and hi-pot using appropriate meters.

  • Perform functional tests of motors and record pertinent information in build worksheets using Excel.

  • Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to address design and build issues.

  • Provide feedback on design and processing to support continuous improvement.

Essential Skills

  • 3+ years of experience as a technician in a production environment or equivalent education/experience.

  • Proficiency in mechanical assembly and blueprint reading.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

  • Understanding of motor/generator theory, power electronics, and magnetic bearing components.

  • Ability to produce assemblies following routers, work instructions, and blueprints.

  • Competence in conducting in-process checks of assemblies.

  • Experience using digital multi-meters, inductance meters, and hi-pot meters.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, including Excel and Word.

  • Ability to conduct basic verification and troubleshooting of own work.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Understanding of motor/generator theory is advantageous.

  • Soldering Certification is a plus.

Work Environment

Work in a medium manufacturing environment with 120 employees, specifically within a department of 20 people focusing on mechanical assembly. The role involves sitting and standing, depending on the assembly line. Be prepared for the smell of glue and the requirement to wear steel-toed shoes for safety.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cypress, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.
