Robert Half HR/Payroll Manager (Generalist) in Cypress, California
Description
We are looking for a dedicated HR/Payroll Director to oversee payroll processes and human resources functions in Cypress, California. This role offers an opportunity to manage a variety of HR and payroll responsibilities for a workforce that includes both union and non-union employees. The ideal candidate will have experience in payroll operations and a proactive approach to employee relations and organizational tasks.
Responsibilities:
• Manage weekly payroll processing and input using QuickBooks, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
• Oversee employee relations for a team of approximately 120 individuals, including union and non-union staff.
• Coordinate recruitment activities, including paperwork for new employees, onboarding, and termination processes.
• Administer employee benefits programs and respond to inquiries related to workers’ compensation claims.
• Maintain the HR inbox and address employee concerns promptly and professionally.
• Ensure compliance with workers' compensation laws and manage related documentation.
• Promote organizational efficiency by implementing HR best practices and maintaining accurate records.
• Provide guidance on HR policies and support managers in addressing employee-related issues.
• Take initiative in improving HR processes, fostering effective communication, and driving organizational goals.
Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree, SHRM Certification is a huge plus.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in payroll and human resources management.
• Proficiency in full-cycle payroll operations, including managing union and non-union payroll. (Union payroll processing is required)
• Experience working in the construction industry is highly preferred.
• Familiarity with QuickBooks Enterprise is ideal.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask effectively.
• Excellent communication skills with a proactive approach to addressing employee needs.
• Knowledge of workers’ compensation laws and related processes.
