Mach3 CNC Lathe Machinist in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio
Description:
The Large Lathe Machinists' role revolves around the setup, maintenance, and operation of various Lathe equipment, including the GNL Mill, VTL (Vertical Turret Lathe), Tri-Tool, and Hone. These machines are used to perform machining operations on steel and alloyed materials. The operator's responsibilities include determining the appropriate operation sequence, selecting the necessary machine settings, and ensuring proper machine performance.
Essential Functions:
*Machine Setup and Operation: *The Large Lathe Operator is responsible for both the setup and operation of the GNL Mill, VTL, Hone, and Tri-Tool, adhering to job specifications.
*Daily Startup and Cleanup: *The operator initiates the daily startup of the equipment and carries out the necessary cleanup procedures at the end of each workday.
*Maintenance: *Regular maintenance tasks, including weekly maintenance and routine preventative maintenance, are conducted by the operator to ensure the proper functioning of the equipment.
*Precision Measurement: *Manual tools such as Dial Calipers, Dial Indicators, and OD/ID Micrometers are frequently used by the operator to verify dimensions and maintain accuracy in machining.
*Additional CNC Machinery: *Depending on production needs, the operator may also operate other Computer Numerical Controlled (CNC) machinery to meet production goals.

In this role, the Large Lathe Operator plays a critical part in the precision machining of steel and alloyed materials. Their responsibilities encompass not only the operation of specialized machinery but also the maintenance, measurement, and quality assurance aspects of the machining process.
Competencies and Experience Needed:
- 3 -- 5 years of machining experience preferred
- Large turning experience preferred
- Must be able to read and interpret blueprints and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
- Fork-lift and overhead experience required.
- Good knowledge of and experience working with steel.
Physical Requirements:
- Position requires physical capability which includes standing most of the time, some lifting up to 25 to 50 pounds, and pushing, pulling, bending, stooping, reaching as needed.
- Standard shift is ten hours per day, with Steel-toe boots and safety glasses required.
